Quiet Bond-2

Lora let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. “Thank you, Mary. She’s … Tim and Dana’s adopted daughter. She recently lost her family, so she’s going through a lot and needs time and patience.”

“Oh, poor soul. So this is the girl you were keeping at the clinic under observation,” Mary said, her voice full of sympathy. “What should we do now?”

Tim scratched his head, still confused by the situation. He had expected something much worse but was now at a loss. “Will we wake them?”

Lora shook her head gently as she moved closer to the sleeping children, her heart softening at the sight of their innocence. “Let’s leave them like this,” she whispered, pulling a nearby blanket over them. “She’s not reacting well to people right now. I’m afraid if we try to move her, it might trigger

another panic attack.”

Dana nodded in agreement, her eyes never leaving the small, fragile figure of the girl. “She looks so peaceful… maybe this is what she needs, a friend close to her age, someone who makes her feel

safe.”

Lora sighed deeply, her earlier worry giving way to a more profound concern for the girl’s

emotional state. “Asher has always been good at making friends. Maybe this bond will help her

heal.”

“I agree,” Azriel added, before continuing, “but … can anyone explain how she ended up here?”

Tim smiled as he replied, “I believe I know.”

The others in the room looked at him intrigued before he continued “Sky just mind-linked me, and it seems that while he was reviewing the security video, he saw Asher sneaking her out of the clinic.”

“What?!” Lora and Azriel replied as they looked at their sleeping son, and Mary started laughing,”

The little troublemaker strikes again.”

In the days that followed, the little girl began to form a strong attachment to Asher. Wherever he

went, she was right behind him, like a silent shadow. If Asher wanted to go to the washroom, she would patiently wait for him at the door, her small frame barely visible in the shadows. Despite the

growing bond between them, she remained eerily silent, never uttering a single word, which puzzled everyone. No one could understand why she wouldn’t speak, even though she seemed physically healthy.

Lora eventually concluded that her silence was likely due to the trauma she had endured, a psychological barrier that would take time to break. It wasn’t something that could be healed with

a simple remedy; it would require patience, love, and a lot of time.

Slowly but surely, the little girl, who had been so cold and distant at first, began to warm up to Dana and Tim. Though she still kept her distance, there were small signs that she was starting to trust them. They discovered her name was Bella when she scribbled it on a piece of paper for Asher It was a small breakthrough, a tiny crack in the wall she had built around herself.

For the past two days, Bella had moved into Dana and Tim’s home, but the true barrier was broken one evening when a nasty storm raged outside. The sky was dark, and the wind howled through the trees, shaking the house with every gust. Thunder rumbled ominously in the distance, growing

louder with each passing minute.

Dana was sitting on the couch, working on her laptop, her face illuminated by the screen’s soft glow. Tim was still at the Pack House, handling some urgent matters, leaving Dana and Bella alone. Bella sat quietly in her usual spot on the couch, her eyes fixed on the cartoons playing on the television. But as the storm grew more intense, her calm demeanor began to waver.

A particularly loud clap of thunder shook the house, and suddenly, Dana looked up in surprise as Bella jumped from her corner on the couch. Before Dana could react, Bella ran to her and hugged her tightly, burying her head in Dana’s abdomen. Her small body trembled with fear, and Dana felt a rush of emotion as she realized that Bella was seeking comfort from her.

Dana smiled softly, her heart swelling with love and protectiveness. She placed her hand on Bella’s head, gently caressing her hair as she whispered reassuring words. “It’s okay, sweetie. I’ve got you.

Don’t be scared. I’ll always protect you.”

Bella didn’t move, holding onto Dana as if she were a lifeline. Dana continued to stroke her hair, her voice calm and soothing. “I know you miss your mommy, Bella. I can’t replace her, but I’m here for you. Always.”

For the first time, Dana felt Bella’s tiny body relax slightly in her arms. The storm continued to rage outside, but inside, a quiet bond was forming between them. It was a fragile connection, but it was

real, and Dana knew it was the first step toward healing.

As she held Bella close, Dana’s mind drifted to Tim, wishing he could see this moment. But she also knew that they had time. Bella was a part of their family now, and together, they would help

her find her way back to the light.
