New Friend 2

New Friend-2

The only slight improvement was that she had begun to eat some of the food they left for her, though she did so cautiously, as if expecting it to be taken away at any moment. The terror in her eyes broke their hearts, but both Lora and Dana knew they had to be patient. The trauma she had endured would take time to heal, and the most important thing was to make her feel safe.

To help with that, they decided to restrict access to the room, allowing only themselves and a few trusted nurses to enter. No one else was to disturb the girl, hoping that the quiet and consistency would help her begin to trust them.

But Asher, being the curious pup that he was, had overheard his parents talking about the new arrival, and his curiosity got the better of him. One day, while everyone was busy, he managed to sneak into the clinic. He was determined to see the girl for himself, his youthful curiosity and innocence driving him forward.

Asher entered the room quietly, his small feet barely making a sound on the tiled floor. He looked around and frowned when he saw the empty bed. “Where is she?” he whispered to himself, his brows furrowing in confusion. He turned at the sound of a faint stir, his sharp young ears picking up the noise.

His eyes landed on the girl huddled in the corner, clutching a small blanket tightly to her chest. She looked so small, so fragile, that even Asher, with all his boyish energy, felt a pang of sympathy for

her.

“Hello,” he said in a friendly voice, taking a step closer. “I’m Asher.”

The girl didn’t respond. She just stared at him with those wide, frightened eyes. Asher tilted his head, not understanding why she wouldn’t talk to him.

“Can’t

you speak?” he asked, his voice filled with the innocent curiosity only a child could have.

The girl looked at him but remained silent. Asher didn’t let it deter him. Instead, he smiled at her, trying to be reassuring.

“You want to be my friend?” he continued, taking another step closer. When she still didn’t respond, he shrugged, undeterred. “It’s okay if you don’t want to speak,” he said kindly. “We can still play.”

Before the girl could react, Asher approached her and took her hand in his, his grip gentle but insistent. He tugged her slightly, encouraging her to stand. The girl hesitated, looking at him with a mix of curiosity and fear, but there was something about Asher’s determination that made her follow.

She sniffed at him cautiously, her senses trying to make sense of this new boy who had suddenly

appeared in her world. Asher, noticing her interest, grinned mischievously.

“We need to avoid the nurses,” he whispered conspiratorially, glancing at the door. “Otherwise, they’ll catch us. But don’t worry, I know how to hide. Come on!”

With that, he led her out of the room, carefully peeking around corners to make sure they wouldn’t be spotted. The girl followed, still holding his hand, and for the first time since she had arrived, a faint glimmer of something other than fear appeared in her eyes. It wasn’t quite trust but more curiosity, her wolf pushing her to follow him, but it was a start. Asher’s natural confidence and carefree attitude seemed to ease some of the tension in her small body, and she found herself curious about this boy who wanted to be her friend.

As they snuck through the clinic, avoiding nurses and finding hiding spots, the girl stayed close to Asher, her grip on his hand tightening just a little. Though she hadn’t said a word, Asher’s presence seemed to offer her a small measure of comfort in a world that had been nothing but terrifying.

And for Asher, it was just the beginning of what he hoped would be a wonderful friendship.

As they slipped out of the clinic, the warm afternoon sun greeted them with a gentle glow. The girl hesitated for a moment, lifting her face to the sky. For a brief second, she closed her eyes, letting the sunlight bathe her skin and the soft breeze play with her hair. But as soon as she opened her eyes again and saw people walking in the distance, her body tensed. The familiar fear surged back, and she began to shake uncontrollably.

The world outside felt too big, too overwhelming. Her heart raced, and her breath hitched as she looked around, her senses on high alert. She was ready to bolt back into hiding, but Asher noticed her distress and squeezed her hand reassuringly.

“Don’t be worried,” he said with a confidence that only a child could muster. “We’re safe here, I promise. My daddy is very powerful, and no rogues will attack us here.”

She looked at him, eyes wide with uncertainty, but his calm demeanor offered a strange comfort. Still, her instinct to run was strong, and she glanced nervously at the people moving about, every shadow and movement setting her on edge.

Asher, noticing her growing anxiety, quickly pointed to a small group of trees not far away. “Come on, let’s go play over there,” he suggested, his voice bright and encouraging. But when she saw where he was pointing, her eyes grew even wider with fear. The idea of venturing into an unknown space filled with more shadows and places to hide was terrifying to her. She shook her head

vigorously in negation, her grip on his hand tightening.

Asher frowned, trying to think of something else. “Hmm… okay… how about this,” he said, his face lighting up with a new idea. “Let’s go to my house! I have lots of toys we can play with. Come on!”

Before she could protest, Asher began gently pulling her along, leading her away from the clinic With each step they took, the girl’s heart pounded faster. The world around her seemed so vast, so full of threats she didn’t understand. But she held onto Asher’s hand as if it were a lifeline, the only thing keeping her from being swallowed by the overwhelming fear that gripped her.

Asher, sensing her reluctance, slowed his pace, offering her a reassuring smile. “It’s okay,” he said softly. “We’re almost there. You’re going to love it, I promise.”

The girl said nothing, but she continued to follow him, her grip on his hand never loosening.
