The next day arrived, marking the moment of Elora’s final medical check-up and her official discharge from the hospital. As she sat on the edge of her hospital bed, the nurses and doctors showed her kindness, providing her with some personal hygiene items and clothes to wear, everyone feeling pity for the young orphan girl. They even had an internal collection, and they handed over to her a few hundred dollars for her to survive for the next few days. The gesture brought Elora to tears, as she never expected to find kindness in strangers, especially humans, while her own kind let her perish without even a fair trial. At that moment she found herself enraged, promising to herself that she would never come in contact with the werewolf community
or any packs. She will live her life like a human.
As Elora dressed herself in the gifted attire, her heart quivered with uncertainty and fear. She felt utterly defenseless, stripped of everything that had once defined her identity. Without any form of
identification, personal belongings, or money to her name, she faced the harsh reality of being alone in a world that felt increasingly foreign.
The absence of her wolf only intensified her sense of desolation. Lina had been her constant
companion, despite the short time spent together, her source of strength and solace in times of
hardship. Now, without her beloved wolf by her side, she felt adrift.
With a heavy heart, Elora took a shaky breath, her hands trembling with trepidation as she
gathered her few gifted belongings. With a trembling heart, she expressed her heartfelt thanks to
the nurses and doctors who had shown her kindness during her time in the hospital. As she turned
to leave, a voice called out to her from behind.
Turning around, Elora’s eyes widened in surprise as she saw Nurse Mary rushing towards her.
“Where are you going young lady, without saying good bye?” Nurse Mary asked her.
“I tried to find you but no one was sure where you were. Thank you, Nurse Mary, for everything.”
Elora told her with a heavy voice.
Nurse Mary smiled warmly, placing a gentle hand on Elora’s shoulder. “You’re welcome,
sweetheart. It’s been a pleasure looking after you. But before you go, I want to make sure you have a safe place to stay. What are you planning to do now?”
“I am not really sure. Most probably I will try to find a shelter where to spend the night, and then I will try to find a job, but without experience, it would be difficult. But, there is hope.”
“I thought about this and I have a small room in my cottage, if you would be interested. I am using it mostly as storage, but with a new mattress it could help you for the moment until you are back
on your feet. What do you say?” nurse Mary told her, leaving Elora in shock as tears started to

“Oh, Nurse Mary, that’s incredibly kind of you. I don’t know how to thank you enough, but I don’t
have any money right now to pay rent or utilities except what the medical staff gifted me,” Elora
said, her voice filled with emotion and sadness.
“Forget about rent, honey, I know your condition and keep the money for you. You can help me with
the household chores in exchange until you find a job.” Overwhelmed by the nurse’s kindness, Elora
nodded in agreement, feeling a glimmer of hope flicker within her heart.
“I’ll gladly help out however I can. Thank you, Nurse Mary, thank you so much,” Elora said, her voice
wavering with emotion.
“OK then, it’s set. Meet me here in 2 hours when I will finish my shift and we can go. And, call me Mary.” With tears of gratitude glistening in her eyes, Elora nodded, feeling a newfound sense of
relief wash over her.
After Nurse Mary left, she decided to wait there, as not having any means of telling time, she was
scared not to be late. As Elora sat waiting anxiously in the hospital lobby on a bench, her mind
swirled with a whirlwind of emotions. The steady stream of people coming and going only served
to amplify her sense of isolation and despair. Just a few months ago, she had been eagerly anticipating her future, preparing herself to embark on attending medical school and then, working in a hospital like this for some time. Now, she found herself cast adrift, a rogue without a pack and
without her cherished wolf by her side.
