Matthew’s bodyguards were just about to move when he immediately signaled for them to stay where they were.

At the same time, Leonel’s and Beckett’s men quietly stepped between the two sides, making it abundantly clear whose side they
were on.
Autumn grabbed Matthew by the arm and dragged him to a secluded corner before getting straight to the point. “I don’t like dancing around the issue, so I’ll ask directly. Why did you come to Aurora Base? Are you here to avenge Gordon, or are you trying to reclaim what belongs to the Yorks from me?”
“Hm? Why would you think that?” Matthew casually brushed a hand through his hair, flicking his flirtatious little ponytail with a shamelessly seductive air. “I came here to do business with Aurora Base.”
“Are you threatening me?” Autumn narrowed her eyes, undisguised killing intent flashing within them.
“No, no. Why would I?” Matthew replied. “I’ve never told anyone about you, and no one knows I know you. In fact, today is the first time we’ve truly met, isn’t it?”
‘Then what exactly did you mean by that?” Autumn asked casually, though her fingers had already settled around the hilt of her curved blade. If Matthew’s answer wasn’t to her satisfaction, she’d cut his head off without hesitation.
As for making another enemy of the central shelter?
Please.
Aurora Base and the central shelter had never been on good terms in the first place.
One more grudge wouldn’t make much difference.
nstead of answering, Matthew stared intently at her face before suddenly asking, “Do you know why I like you?”
‘You’re insane.”
‘It’s that wild, untamable look in your eyes. It absolutely kills me.” Matthew leaned forward, exposing his neck right in front of her. ‘You really want to cut my head off, don’t you? Go ahead-right here. I’d gladly die by your hand.”
“You’ve got to be…” Autumn cursed as she drove a savage kick into him. “Are you seriously pulling the obsessive psycho act with me?”
Matthew was sent flying and landed hard on the ground.
“Hahaha!” He laughed with morbid delight. “This is wonderful… Ngh!”
The edge of her curved blade rested against his throat, and a thin line of blood slowly trickled down.
One more fraction of an inch, and his head would roll.
“Don’t.” Matthew lifted his eyes to meet hers. “That hurts.”
Just as Autumn’s fingers were about to tighten, Leonel’s voice called out from behind. “Asher, wait.”
Without changing her stance, Autumn looked back at him.

No wonder Matthew was so infatuated with her. The moment Autumn intended to kill, the look in her eyes was breathtaking.
Even he found it difficult to resist her presence.
“Matthew can’t die,” Leonel said simply. “He’s the Yocks’ only son. If he dies, the central shelter will wage an all-out war against Aurora Base. Even if the Yorks only control a third of it, we’re talking about several million people against 800,000. The odds aren’t
in our favor.
“Besides, Mr. York came here in good faith to trade with us. He knows you love gold the most, so he brought an entire ship loaded with it.” Leonel turned to Matthew. “Isn’t that right, Mr. York?”
Matthew’s eyes lit up. He finally knew what Asher liked.
Gold, was it?
Then, he’d give Asher mountains of gold.
“That’s right.” Matthew nodded eagerly. “I brought 300 tons of gold.”
For the sake of the gold, Autumn finally spared him. She pulled him up from the ground and casually brushed the dust off his clothes, suddenly sounding perfectly reasonable. “The ground’s cold. Let’s talk standing up.”
Matthew was about to resume flirting when Leonel beat him to it. “Mr. York, Aurora Base isn’t producing large quantities of phosphorus powder yet, but we do have plenty of other supplies with exceptional value. Would you be interested?”
“Oh? Like what?” Matthew asked casually.
‘For example, finished textiles, rubber tires, bedding, curtains, beverages, canned food, and survival meal packages capable of leeding one person for 30 years.” With every item Leonel listed/Matthew’s eyes shone a little brighter.
‘Mr. Wright, you’ve truly impressed me,” Matthew said, finally taking his attention off Autumn. “Looks like you’ve already decided to take all of my gold.”
When it came to business, Matthew actually seemed fairly normal.
“And why shouldn’t I?” Leonel smiled. “This isn’t the place to discuss it. Why don’t we head back and continue over dinner?”
“Sounds good.” Matthew nodded.
He was just about to speak to Autumn when she walked away without sparing him so much as a glance.
Matthew instinctively moved to follow, but Leonel spoke first. “Mr. York, if I were you, I wouldn’t keep provoking her.”
“Oh?” Matthew turned to him. “Why not?”
“Some people are meant to be admired from afar, not pursued.” Leonel gave Matthew’s shoulder a light pat before walking away as well.
Matthew smiled silently.
What was he supposed to do?
