Someone disagreed and said, “No,there should be more. The central shelter kicked out quite a lot of people. Anyone suspected of eating human flesh was driven out of the shelter. Think about it. Some of those people came to our Aurora Base, some went to the southwestern shelter, but where did the rest go?”

Beckett ordered the drones to expand their search area,

Sure enough, in a mountain valley, they seemed to find signs that humans had been living there.

“Look here.” Beckett froze the image and said, “Without satellites, the footage is a little blurry, but you can still tell there are signs of human activity. Do you think those mutant animals and plants went after them?”

Autumn nodded. “That’s possible. Everyone wants to survive. Humans want to live, and so do mutant animals and plants. But only ɔne side can make it. When two enemies are fighting for survival, the stronger one wins! Beckett, let’s raid their base!”

Beckett smiled. “That’s exactly what I was thinking.”

After saying that, they gave each other a high five in perfect sync.

Who would have thought things would work out this perfectly?

f they didn’t take advantage of this chance, they would be wasting their luck.

Autumn led the group and jogged all the way there, quickly reaching the planned location.

she pulled out a pile of weapons from her storage space and handed them to the guys who were going to cover her. “Remember, if you can’t win, run. The supplies don’t matter. I have plenty more. Beckett will pick you up on the boat. Once you get on board, eave immediately. Don’t stay behind.”

‘What about you?” one of them couldn’t help asking.

‘Me? Don’t worry. There aren’t many people in this world who can actually kill me.” Autumn smiled and patted him on the houlder. “That’s an order!”

‘Yes!”

After giving her instructions, Autumn started adding layers of protection to herself. She covered her joints and vital areas with lexible armor and put on a helmet.

The outfit looked a little strange, but she was fully armored.

With the saber strapped to her back, Autumn leaped up and landed lightly on the road near the south gate.

The road couldn’t even be called a road anymore.

The acid rain had already eaten away almost everything. It was more like a piece of relatively flat ground.

The surface was full of potholes, but Autumn easily avoided them with her quick movements and made her way to the south gate.

Everyone watched her figure closely. Their breathing became quieter as they stared, nervous yet excited.

Autumn calmly took out several tear gas grenades and threw them inside.

She put on a gas mask, pulled out her saber, and gripped it tightly with both hands. After silently counting to ten, she dashed inside in a flash.

Beckett, who had been watching the situation through binoculars the entire time, straightened up in his seat. His eyes stayed fixed on the scene without blinking.

Autumn had a tiny camera attached to her. Beckett could see everything inside through the camera feed.

Even though Autumn had rushed all the way there, her breathing was steady. She wasn’t even out of breath, moving with complete

ease.

After walking seven or eight steps, Autumn suddenly slowed down.

“How’s the situation inside?” Beckett’s voice came through the earpiece.

“Nothing unusual so far. It’s empty. Looks like someone already searched through this place. After so long in the apocalypse, it’s not surprising that someone found this place and searched it. They just couldn’t take the big stuff with them,” Autumn answered in a low voice.

Hearing how relaxed Autumn sounded, Beckett’s worried heart finally settled down a little.

Suddenly, the camera shook. The moment Beckett had just relaxed, his heart jumped again. “Autumn, look toward your front left. Ten o’clock direction.”

‘Got it.” Autumn quickly moved over and saw a half-buried basement.

‘I found a basement. Should I check it out?” she asked.

‘Be careful.”

‘Okay.” Bracing one hand, Autumn jumped down and moved forward by stepping and leaping over the debris.

The massive earthquake had destroyed countless buildings. The shipyard hadn’t escaped either. The once solid basement had already collapsed halfway, with only a small section still intact.

Autumn searched around but found nothing. Just as she was about to turn and leave…

Suddenly, the familiar sticky feeling under her feet made Autumn’s scalp prickle

Her body reacted faster than her mind. She immediately rolled to the side and jumped back more than 20 feet.

“Damn it.” Autumn saw what was in front of her and cursed.

“What happened?” Beckett’s voice became tense.
