Chapter 446 The Woman in the Mountains

“It’s…”

It was incredible.

In an instant, the energy inside the meat detonated through his entire body.

It surged into every corner, every cell.

He could feel the raw, ferocious power coursing through him.

Steven was stunned.

The energy raced to every part of his body, and the injuries Scarlett had inflicted mofnents ago were healing at a visible speed.

Heat flooded through him. His blood roared, and his skin turned red and scalding.

Scarlett noticed the change from the corner of her eye and gave a small, satisfied nod.

After a long while, Steven’s eyes blazed with renewed vitality.

His body felt noticeably stronger; his injuries were completely gone.

He was brimming with energy.

Steven blurted out, “Ma’am!”

Scarlett immediately shielded the bird with both arms. “This is all mine! There’s nothing left for you!”

Steven had no words.

He laughed bitterly inside. Are allpowerful people this eccentric?

Steven said politely, “Thank you, Ma’am.”

Scarlett waved him off. “I’m the one who hurt you. Now, I’ve healed you. We’re even.”

Internally, Scarlett was already thinking, If this kid ever tries to hold this over me later, I’ll lose

my

mind.

Then, Steven watched in astonishment as Scarlett demolished the rest of the bird at record speed.

An entire enormous fowl, reduced to a bare skeleton in a whirlwind of graceful eating.

Steven didn’t know what to say.

She’d eaten at breakneck pace, yet somehow not a single moment of it had looked undignified.

Scarlett let out a small burp, quickly covered her mouth, and glanced left and right. How embarrassing.

Steven tested the waters. “Ma’am, why does eating that bird heal injuries?

Can all beast meat do that?”

Scarlett looked at him.

You’re welcome to try. Don’t blame me wher your body explodes.

Steven’s face twitched.

Scarlett studied him. “This was a level 7 peacock. Of course, to me it’s just a chicken. The meat contains refined essence, but also berserk energy. Normal people can’t handle it.

“It also requires special preparation to neutralize the volatile elements before eating.”

Scarlett said a few more words than she normally would.

Steven nodded. So, that was how it worked. No wonder he’d never heard of this.

Scarlett looked at him. “Want to learn the preparation method?”

Steven said sheepishly, “I wouldn’t dare impose. I was just thinking–could beast meat be used as a resource for evolution?”

Scarlett nodded without hesitation. “Of course. Beasts absorb natural energy to evolve. Their meat is just energy in another form.”

A small jolt of excitement ran through Steven.

He’d been right.

Scarlett didn’t elaborate.

She glanced at the monkey brain. It was almost done.

“Take the monkey brain. I don’t need it. Consider it compensation.”

You should have it, Ma’am. I’m the one who disturbed your peace.”

Stop calling me that. Do I look that old to you?”

Steven didn’t miss a beat. “Big sis!

She was momentarily stunned.

“This one will boost your psychic strength.”

Steven relaxed considerably. At least, she wasn’t going to kill him anymore.

“Thanks, sis.

Steven took the monkey brain and began eating.

Scarlett reclined in her chair, resting her chin on one elegant hand, dark hair spilling over her fingers.

A warm, gentle smile spread across her face.

It was far beyond the one he’d taken from the Mountain–Shifter Ape.

Scarlett said between bites, “That Greenlight Fruit technically needs about another year before it’s fully ripe.

Steven asked, “Eating it unripe doesn’t cause problems, does it, sis? I’ve always done it that way.”

Scarlett shook her head. “No problems. Just reduced effectiveness.”

Steven asked again, “How do you know all of this, sis? You’re Draconian, right?”

Scarlett gave him a flat look.

“Don’t ask questions you shouldn’t. Finish eating and get lost.”

Steven started shoveling food faster.

He finished quickly.

But this time, there was no explosive burst of energy.

Instead, a gentler warmth spread through his body.

It was easier to absorb.

When he was done, Steven stood.

Sis, I should go. I won’t bother you any longer.

“My teammates are waiting for me outside.”

Scarlett nodded.

She flicked her wrist, and three oddly shaped spirit fruits appeared in front of him.

“These three are compensation for your battle armor.”

Steven looked at the three fruits, and his eyes blazed.
