Reborn: Apocalypse Ready. War Goddess by My Side novel Chapter 368

Chapter 368 The Last Card

All three Divine Knights actually staggered back a step or two.

But the flames couldn’t touch them at all.

Finished

They unleashed their own monstrous strength and tore a path straight through the wall of fire by brute force alone.

Then they turned and closed in on Steven without hesitation.

All three struck again with brutal, coordinated force.

A thunderous boom tore through the warehouse.

A wet, tearing sound followed right behind it.

Steven’s head snapped back as blood burst from his mouth, and for one frozen moment, everything seemed to stop.

“Steven!”

“Steven!”

All four of his friends screamed his name at nearly the same instant, their eyes blown wide with horror.

Their bodies shook uncontrollably.

Sobs tore out of them.

A wave of bitter sorrow rose inside Lilliana too.

This wasn’t supposed to happen.

Steven, this isn’t who you are. Why would you throw yourself into something this reckless?

Is this what you meant by laying down your life for what matters?

This isn’t noble. This is reckless to the point of madness!

All they could do was watch helplessly as Steven’s body dropped to the ground.

His battle armor had taken severe damage, cracked and warped like it might fall apart entirely.

Without that S–rank battle armor, Steven would have been crippled several times over already.

He hit the ground and stayed there, unmoving for a long stretch of time.

Abigail’s face twisted with a manic grin as she laughed.

“Drag him over here!”

She had no intention of approaching him herself.

Chapter 368 The Last Card

The Divine Knight stationed beside her as her personal guard frowned slightly.

Finished

He’d kept his attention locked on the perimeter of the warehouse this entire time.

His scanning equipment showed no signs of any life signatures nearby.

The three Divine Knights walked toward Steven’s body.

Blood kept pouring steadily from his mouth as they looked down at him.

“Kid, you’ve got nerve. None of us have ever seen a Divine Envoy quite like you in our lives.”

Steven’s gaze drifted, unfocused.

He’d half expected Abigail to come closer at some point.

She never did.

Just as she’d said herself, she was a monster, but not a fool.

There was nothing left to do but commit fully.

The lean, gaunt fighter at level thirty one leaned down to haul Steven up by force.

That’s when it happened.

The level thirty two fighter standing beside him went pale as a corpse in an instant.

“You absolute monster!”

A twisted, vicious smile spread across Steven’s blood soaked lips.

He flicked his wrist without warning.

A small metal sphere shot straight at all three of them.

Abigail let out an ecstatic shriek of delight. “I knew it! I just knew it! Hahaha!”

Lilliana’s eyes went wide too. So he’d had a backup plan all along.

The whole scene seemed to dissolve into nothing.

High above, watching from somewhere distant, the old man observed everything in silence. You troublesome kid. I’ve given you this lesson. The path forward is yours to walk alone now.

Surely nobody standing at the heart of that explosion could have survived.

Is he actually dead?

Nelson, Seamus, and the others wore expressions of pure grief.

A hollow ache spread through their chests. Steven’s dead? Just like that?

If he was dead, none of them stood any chance of surviving either.

The smoke started to thin.

And right at that moment, from the very heart of that cloud of smoke and dust, five blasts of origin energy cannon fire tore outward in an instant.

Chapter 368 The Last Card

Light flashed across the warehouse.

Everything happened within a single breath.

Abigail and the Divine Knight beside her both felt a jolt of alarm.

Those five blasts were aimed directly at them, closing the distance fast.

Finished

Barely a blink of an eye later, all five beams of light slammed into the chains holding Nelson and the others suspended above the ground.

Steven’s blood soaked figure tore out of the smoke like a man reborn.

One cannon blast fired straight at the Divine Knight standing beside Abigail.

His right hand gripped the Dragon Spear.

Fury blazed through every inch of him.

His true target stood fixed dead ahead. Abigail herself.

Everything happened too fast for anyone to react.

The Divine Knight didn’t even have time to react.

He couldn’t begin to comprehend how Steven had survived that explosion at all, let alone walked out of it looking completely unscathed by the weapon’s devastating force.

The moment Nelson and the others hit the ground, the Divine Knight smashed the incoming cannon blast aside with a single brutal strike.

He spun to protect Abigail, but by then, it was already too late.
