His fury raged out of control. If anything happened to Abigail right now, his own life was finished too.
In the blink of an eye, Steven closed the distance and stood barely three feet from Abigail.
He could end her with a single thrust, faster than a single breath.
But he saw no trace of fear on her face at all.
If anything, her expression burned with manic, gleeful excitement.
Abigail let out a wild, unhinged laugh. “Did you really think I’d come here with nothing in reserve?”
In that same instant, an egg shaped barrier burst into existence around her body.
A contingency, then? Killing intent surged through Steven harder than before.
In that same heartbeat, deep within his mind, those golden eyes flared to life and wrapped his spear from end to end in radiant golden light.
That barrier had been forged tough enough to withstand even a full strike from a Divine Knight.
But against that golden light, it held up no better than a sheet of wet paper.
A sharp crack split the air as Steven’s spear tore straight through it.
For the first time, Abigail’s expression cracked.
Panic flooded through her.
How is this happening?
That barrier could withstand a direct hit from a Divine Knight, and it shattered just like that.
All she could do was watch as that golden spear tip drove straight into her body.
It punched clean through her in an instant, a piercing cold that reached all the way to her core.
Agony crashed through her, and a piercing scream tore through the warehouse, echoing off every wall.
Blood sprayed through the air in that same breath.
The Divine Knight, still reeling from being blasted aside earlier, watched in pure horror.
“You monster! Let go of her!”
Murderous fury raged through every inch of Steven.
“Die!”
Even run through by Steven’s spear, Abigail’s unhinged nature never wavered. A manic grin spread wide
across her face.

Chapter 369 Die
Finished
She already knew there was no surviving this.
A venomous laugh tore out of her. “You were trying to save them?
“I refuse to let you!”
She’d completely lost herself to madness.
“Join them in hell!” A deranged, triumphant cackle ripped through the warehouse.
Every origin energy bomb in the building detonated at once.
Blinding light flooded the dark warehouse in that instant. Steven’s eyes blew wide with horror, and he tore toward Nelson and the others like a man possessed.
Nelson understood exactly what was coming.
He screamed with everything he had left. “Run!”
“Run!” The others screamed it together, voices raw.
But it was already too late.
Steven’s mind went completely blank. All he could do was watch the bombs behind Nelson and the others flare to life.
Why? He’d already driven his spear clean through Abigail’s heart. How could this monster still trigger the detonation?
Endless light blazed through the pitch black warehouse, tearing the darkness apart.
In that disoriented instant, Steven caught the look of utter despair on his closest friends‘ faces.
Their eyes carried sorrow, carried grief, and somehow still tried to tell him, without a single word, to get
away.
The light swallowed every one of them within the span of a single heartbeat.
Shielded by The World, Steven stood there with every trace of expression drained from his face.
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
All he wanted in this life was for them to live, to have good lives.
Why did it turn out like this?
Is fate truly something that can never be rewritten?
It blazed like a single lantern lit against an endless night.

The Reads really are a family of lunatics.
High above, somewhere in the night sky, the old man flew five kites through the air, his eyes drifting toward the horizon. They should be arriving soon.
They’re all gone.
Every one of them is gone.
How is he still alive?
A sudden downpour broke loose from the sky, soaking Steven from head to toe and hiding the tears running down his face.
Guilt was the only thing left inside him.
“Steven, no way, are you seriously SSS–rank?!”
“Steven, want to see Fiona’s photoshoot? Exclusive, just for you!”
“Steven, you’re officially our golden ticket from now on. Don’t forget about us the second you’ve got Bianca on your arm…”

Chapter 369 Die
“I hereby crown you my honorary godfather! Let your humble follower bow before you!”
“Steven, I’ve got a video you really shouldn’t watch. Want to see it?”
“I want a kiss too…”
Their laughter rang out warm and unguarded, the kind that only exists when nothing in the world feels like a real threat yet.
Proteus‘ brow furrowed.
This had turned into something far messier than he’d expected.
Abigail, useless as she was, had thrown everything she had at this and still failed to kill him.
He scrambled to adjust his plan.
He sent out footage of Steven slaughtering Abigail, along with the earlier explosion at Steven’s family home
At the same time, he sent word to call off the beast swarm outside the city.
This shouldn’t cause too many problems.
The real show was only just beginning.
Before long, footage of Steven slaughtering Abigail spread across the internet like wildfire.
The entire city reeled in shock at what they saw.
