Chapter 363 Lure Them In
His face twisted with something cold and merciless.
This had to end fast, clean, and final.
Finished
While his eyes stayed locked on the house, someone else was watching him from the shadows nearby.
A mocking smile spread across Proteus’s face.
What perfect timing this turned out to be.
He’d figured this job would take several more days to wrap up, and here it was, falling into place all in one night.
This felt almost too easy.
Once this part was finished, he’d let Abigail’s blade finish off Steven for him.
Everything would fall together perfectly.
A quiet, satisfied chuckle slipped out of him.
Connor made his move.
He spotted his opening and bolted straight toward the old house.
He’d closed to within a few dozen feet of the building when Proteus, hidden in the dark, triggered the origin energy bomb he’d planted earlier.
A blinding flash tore through the night sky, bright enough to wash out the stars themselves, and detonated right in front of Connor.
His mind went completely blank in that instant.
All he saw was that terrifying wave of light blooming outward in the blink of an eye.
The shockwave swallowed every house within a hundred and fifty feet in a single, devastating pulse.
Everything vanished in an instant.
A thunderous blast tore through the air.
Connor was hurled backward by the force of the explosion.
His mask shattered to pieces on impact.
When he hit the ground, his eyes locked onto the flattened ruins where the small house once stood, horror written across every line of his face.
There was nothing left. No bodies, not even rubble that resembled a house anymore.
Shock crashed through him.

Chapter 363 Lure Them In
Fuushed
Who did this?
He reached up and touched his own face. This is a disaster. Where is that mysterious protector now?
He scrambled to cover his face and bolted from the scene.
Someone else wanted this brat’s family dead too?
Who could that even be?
Is this tied to some enemy of that mysterious protector? Did I just stumble into the crossfire of someone else’s war?
None of it made sense to Connor.
All he knew was that something massive was unfolding, something far beyond his understanding. /
Is that SSS–rank girl’s mother dead too?
Connor didn’t dare linger another second. He fled the scene as fast as his legs could carry him.
Proteus watched Connor disappear into the night.
A low, satisfied laugh rolled out of him. “Now this is getting good. Time for the next act.”
He vanished from the scene just as quickly.
Brian watched both insignificant pawns scurry away with cold indifference.
Tonight, everything would come to a head.
Things were moving faster than expected.
How will that foolish boy handle all of this?
Teaching his grandson a lesson was proving to be exhausting work, even for a grandfather as patient as him.
Steven called Lilliana back.
“Stay out of this. I’ll handle it myself. Don’t get involved.”
Lilliana paused for a moment. “I could actually help you.”
“You can’t help with this,” Steven said. “It’s too dangerous. They’re after me specifically. Get out of there now, and don’t make this harder for me.”
Lilliana started to say something else.
A sharp scream cut through the call.
Steven’s pupils contracted instantly.

“Lilliana!”
At least not now.
How am I supposed to handle this?
What is the right move here?

“Ma’am, this girl was tailing us, so we figured we’d bring her along too. Looks like she’s got some connection to that kid as well.”
A twisted, gleeful smile spread across Abigail’s face as she licked her lips.
“Good work. Her name’s Lilliana. She was that little wretch’s crush back in high school.”
Abigail gripped Lilliana’s face and dug her fingers hard into her chest, twice.
“Not bad at all. Once I’m done killing that boy, I think I’ll enjoy this one properly. Someone like you doesn’t come along often.
“Hang them all up.
“Wake them up.”
Nelson and Lilliana were strung up alongside the others.
A hose blasted both of them with freezing water until they jolted awake.
Terror flooded their faces the second consciousness returned.
“Who are you people? Why are you doing this to me?” Nelson gasped, struggling to breathe.
He scanned the room and spotted Steven’s roommates, then Lilliana beside him.
Then his eyes landed on Abigail.
All the color drained from his face.
Abigail didn’t even bother sparing him a word.
She gave a small, careless wave of her hand.
Her men sprang into motion immediately, unleashing a fresh wave of brutal whipping on every captive in
the room.
The whip cracked hard against flesh.
Nelson’s scream tore through the warehouse in raw agony.
