Chapter 361 You’re Done For
Finished
The shouting and clashing finally settled into a rhythm. “Don’t worry, Steven,” Bianca’s voice came through. “I’m not going to push myself too far.”
Before Steven could answer, Olivia’s voice cut through the channel.
“Captain, level four beast incoming! Everyone stay sharp!”
Every face in the squad tightened at once.
The next instant, a massive Earthsplitter Lizard tore up out of the ground.
“I’ve got this one,” Alan said, his voice flat and certain. “Stay focused on your own targets.”
He was already moving before he finished speaking.
For Alan, a threat like this barely registered as a challenge.
Steven and the others still kept watch for any other level four beasts that might surface without warning.
Generally speaking, the larger level four beasts struggled to tunnel into the city from underground.
The cramped tunnel networks limited their movement too severely. Creatures like the Bloodmoon Demon Wolf or the Earth Demon Bear rarely made it past the outer wall at all.
Steven threw himself fully back into the slaughter.
Then his Starlink lit up with an incoming call.
He frowned, declined it, and the same caller tried again almost immediately.
He glanced at the name. Lilliana.
“Hello? What’s going on?” he asked, still cutting through the swarm without breaking stride.
Lilliana’s voice came through, tight with panic.
“Steven, I just saw someone drag Nelson away! I think something’s happened to him, so I wanted to let you know right away.”
Steven’s mind went completely blank for a heartbeat.
Damn it!
He swept his spear in a wide arc, clearing every beast within reach in one motion.
“What exactly did you see?”
In a shadowed corner of the residential district, Proteus emerged from underground in a burst of motion.

Chapter 361 You’re Done For
A cruel, knowing smile curled at the edge of his mouth.
“Getting in here wasn’t easy at all.”
He melted into the darkness and shifted his appearance entirely.
Finished
He sent out a signal, pulling in key intelligence circulating through the city, most of it centered on Bianca and Steven.
Before long, that same smile widened further.
“Interesting. Very interesting.
“Having access to the Sentinel System really does make things convenient.”
His eyes darted with calculation.
“The Reads. Silas, Abigail. The stars must be aligned in my favor tonight.
“They’ve gone and done half my work for me.”
A cold, satisfied smile spread across his face in the dark. This job was about to turn out far easier than he’d expected.
He sent off another message.
“Get me the locations of every core Read family member, now.”
Proteus reshaped himself into the form of an ordinary man and vanished into the night.
Fury ignited in Steven’s chest.
“What exactly happened? When did you see this?”
Every member of his squad caught the edge in his voice.
“I was right outside the academy. I saw Nelson rush out in a hurry, and barely a minute later, a few men in black knocked him out and carried him off. I think it might have been the Reads.”
Damn you, Read!

Danny and the others joined in with their own furious curses.
Bianca’s voice cut through. “Steven, what do we do?”
Anxiety tightened in his chest, but he forced himself to stay level. He had to stay calm. There was no other option.
Right then, his Starlink flashed again.
The virtual display lit up.
It was a message from Seamus.
He opened it.
Every shred of restraint Steven had left shattered in an instant.
“I’ll kill you, Abigail!”
Pure, boundless fury exploded out of him all at once.
The whole squad froze in shock.

“What happened?” Alan demanded, his voice low and urgent.
Finished
Steven stared at the message Seamus had sent through his Starlink, rage burning through every nerve in his body.
He forwarded the feed to Alan and Olivia.
Both their faces went rigid the instant they saw it.
In the image, Seamus, Luke, and their leader Chad hung suspended, their bodies covered in wounds.
Whips tore across their skin even as the image played, blood streaming down in thin, relentless lines.
