Chapter 220 Military Command’s Reply
Darlene was the squad’s mascot. Everyone spoiled her.
Olivia usually came across as a gentle, sweet girl, but she was sharp and decisive when controlling the Surveillant. The only time she got feisty was when she ran into Scarlette.
Louie tore a chunk of meat from a rabbit leg and said, “Steven, that spear technique you used today… that was Dragonhowl Spear, wasn’t it?”
Steven smiled and nodded. “Yeah, that’s right.”
Mason’s eyes lit up. Even the muscles all over his body seemed to twitch with excitement. “I swear I heard five or six dragon roars. So that means your Dragonhowl has reached Mastery?”
“Yeah, pretty much,” Steven replied with a smile. “I can trigger six now.
Mason immediately gave him a thumbs–up. “That’s insane. I’ve never seen a monster like you at your age.”
Steven waved his hands repeatedly.
Peter threw an arm around Steven’s neck.
“Well, obviously! Look who brought him here in the first place.”
Steven shot back. “Stop taking credit for it. Captain Greenwood was the one who recruited me.”
Peter’s face twitched. “You little brat. What’s wrong with letting me show off for a second?”
Everyone laughed.
Uriah seized the opportunity. “Peter, you can’t even pull off six Dragonhowl yourself, can you?”
Peter’s old face reddened. “Bullshit. Who says I can’t? I just never learned it.”
Uriah nodded seriously. “Uh–huh, sure. And that’s why your spear techniques are still only at the Mastery stage.”
Peter looked completely embarrassed.

“Why are you only talking about me? How many of you have actually pushed a combat skill to Peak?”
That only made everyone laugh harder.
He had a point. Reaching the Peak was incredibly difficult.
It wasn’t just a matter of grinding it out over time. You needed talent and real combat insight, too.
Steven chatted with everyone for a while.
Then Olivia suddenly spoke up. “Military Command just sent a reply.

Chapter 228 Military Command’s Reply
Everyone turned to look.
Olivia looked at Alan.
Furished
“Military Command wants us to continue the mission. Even if we run into God Eaters, we’re to gather as much information as possible about their numbers and strength. Then, decide what to do.”
Edric frowned. “The danger level wasn’t increased?”
Olivia sighed softly and shook her head.
Peter cursed. “Those people at Military Command are so used to acting high and mighty, they don’t know shit about what we’re dealing with. They won’t even approve a reward increase. Bunch of bastards.”
If a mission’s danger level were raised, the rewards would increase significantly as well.
But they weren’t willing to do it.
Mason chimed in, “Come to think of it, why were the God Eaters watching us the moment we left the city? Unless…”
Despite his rough appearance, Mason was surprisingly thoughtful. He didn’t dare finish that thought out loud.
After all, no one knew whether there was a traitor involved.
Alan said, “Don’t jump to conclusions. Focus on the job. Once you’re done eating, get ready to rest. We’ll take turns on watch.”
“Steven doesn’t need to take a shift.”
“We move out at dawn.”
Everyone nodded. No objections.
Steven, however, couldn’t shake a bad feeling. Mason’s unspoken suspicion was impossible to ignore.
After all, in his previous life, even a marshal had turned out to be a traitor…
Alan had given Steven special treatment.

Unfortunately, it didn’t keep boosting Strength every time.

So he’d just have to take it one step at a time.
Raise everything together
As soon as he broke into the next level, he’d find a chance to max out his strength first.
There was no point overthinking it now.
