Chapter 219 Outlander

Alan glanced at Uriak “How are you holding up?”

Uriah shook his head. “I’m fine. Nothing serious.”

Alan nodded.

Olivia came over. “Wasn’t it two wargs?”

Alan shook his head, his expression grim.

Everyone quickly collected the beast crystals.

“Let’s move. We need to get out of here first. We’ll talk on the way.”

They maintained their formation.

Finished

After the battle, everyone had picked up a few minor injuries here and there, but this wasn’t the time to deal with them.

They quickly left the ancient city.

“It wasn’t two wargs. It was one warg.”

Olivia froze. “But…”

Alan continued, “There should’ve been a person there. The one Steven spotted earlier was most likely him.”

Hearing that, everyone’s expressions changed.

“A person?”

“Someone’s targeting us?”

Steven’s heart skipped a beat as a possibility suddenly came to mind.

“An Outlander?!” Steven gasped.

Everyone immediately looked at Steven in disbelief.

Everyone was completely baffled.

“Damn, how do you know everything? You even know about the Outlanders?”

Steven’s face was grim.

“Captain Greenwood, maybe I was right. Operation Moonfall is extremely dangerous. There’s a real chance we’ve been targeted by Outlanders.”

Alan nodded. “Can’t rule it out. But it could also be a coincidence.

rushed

Edric spoke coldly, “Under normal circumstances, the God Eaters shouldn’t be appearing anywhere near Rowenville.”

The so–called Outlanders were better known as the God Eaters.

They stood against the Awakened and preached coexistence with beasts.

The Awakened killed beasts. The God Eaters killed the Awakened.

In reality, most of them were nothing more than ruthless opportunists.

Most of them were descendants of criminals who had either been exiled or escaped after committing serious crimes.

Others were traitors who had willingly become servants of high–ranking beasts.

Those powerful beasts already possessed intelligence equal to that of humans. Some were even smarter.

The only reason they had never built a true civilization was because creatures like that were rare.

Most beasts still operated on primitive, savage instinct.

The war between the Awakened and the God Eaters had never truly ended.

mission.”

Olivia said. “It’s getting dark. If there really are God Eaters in the area, then moving at night isn’t a good idea anymore.”

Alan nodded. “We move until sunset, then find a place to rest. We head out again tomorrow!”

Everyone picked up the pace.

Fortunately, they didn’t encounter any more danger along the way.

By sunset, they had even caught a few wild animals.

After setting up a secure area, Caleb took over as head chef and whipped up a feast with the fresh meat.

“The chef hasn’t lost his touch,” Theo said with a grin.

Caleb laughed. “Of course not. Why would I?”

Everyone ate, finally able to relax a little.

In the squad, the three Rearguard members were a little older.

And aside from Alan, Edric, and Nicole–the team’s three human icebergs–everyone else was pretty friendly. The squad felt like one big family.

Steven was gradually getting more familiar with them, too.

Louie was lean, good with dual blades, and obsessed with money. There was a faintly sly look in his eyes, though he kept it well hidden. Definitely a low–key thirsty guy.

Mason was a mountain of muscle who fought his way through everything with his iron fists. Straightforward and easygoing.

Theo from the assassination team was calm and steady. He wasn’t cold, just a man of few words. He usually had a smile on his face and chimed in now and then.

Of the three Rearguard members, Caleb was the highest level at level 30. He was the camp’s head chef. He was a gentle soul who radiated a warm, approachable energy.

Uriah was somewhat similar to Peter, though nowhere near as talkative.

And Peter… Well, no need to say much. The guy was an old clown through and through.
