Chapter 121 Blushing Bianca
Bianca buried her burning face in her hands.
She had nothing to say to that.
Punish me all you want. I’d take every single one.
Bianca went suddenly, completely quiet.
Steven ducked his head to look at her. She wasn’t crying.
“Hey. You okay, Bianca?”
Bianca kept her head down, drowning in her own mortification.
“I’m… fine…
A beat of silence stretched between them.

“Are there… more punishments?”
ૐ
Steven had absolutely nothing to say. He’d just been completely, thoroughly defeated.
You’re so sweet I could die!
Is this really the same coldly untouchable Ember Eternal from my previous life?
Bianca seemed to register, a moment too late, just how devastating that question was.

Something impulsive surged through her before she could think twice about it, and she acted on pure instinct.
She leaned in and pressed a swift, feather–light kiss to Steven’s cheek. “That… that’s my punishment for you.”
She was already running before she finished the sentence, her heart hammering so furiously she thought
r it might simply escape her chest entirely.
“I’m going back! Get some sleep, Steven!”
She vanished like smoke on a breeze.
Steven stood frozen in place, his fingers drifting to the spot on his cheek where she’d kissed him.
The corner of his mouth curved slowly upward.
You’re not escaping me now, my Ember Eternal.
He floated back to his room on a wave of pure, incandescent joy.
He was going to be buzzing from this for the rest of the night. Multiple nights, actually.

Clearly it was time to move things forward.
A real kiss was the obvious next step.
Now he just needed a good excuse. Can I reuse the “not sleeping” angle?
No, that was a little thin.
He’d need to think of something better.
“Steven! What is wrong with you?
“You’ve been in this room for exactly five minutes and you’ve grinned to yourself at least thirty–eight times! What’s going on with you?
“It’s just a kiss! You really think you’re making me jealous right now?” Seamus‘ voice came out thoroughly sour and deeply wounded.
Steven looked at him with absolute serenity.
“I’m allowed to be happy.”
Seamus looked like he wanted to cry.
Chad laughed from across the room. “You’re doing this to yourself.”
Seamus turned to Luke with imploring eyes.
Luke smiled with perfect, cheerful cruelty. “Sorry, man. I kissed someone this afternoon too.”
“Just end my suffering already!” Seamus collapsed face–first onto his bed and stayed there.
The teasing wound down eventually, and after everyone finished washing up, Steven lay back on his bed and spent a stretch of time absorbing divine crystal.
When he sensed the other three doing the same and settling into their own cultivation rhythms, something in him relaxed.
He closed his eyes and lay still.
“Beast Energy Conversion, activate.”
The night slipped by in a mix of suffering and exhilaration, and morning arrived like a quiet reward.
Steven checked his attribute panel in the pale early light.
“Beast Energy Conversion.
That feeling never gets
old.
A full level per night.
More, if I pushed it.
Would the Beast–Type Divine Sigil also carry its own sigil pattern power?
The room stirred to life around him as the others slowly hauled themselves into consciousness.
Seamus clung to his blanket like a man fighting off a court summons. “What’s the first class this morning? he mumbled into his pillow. “Is there any realistic chance of skipping it?”

Luke brought a flat palm down on the back of his head.

“This isn’t high school angmore. First class today is Tyrant Rose’s combat session. Get up before you miss your chance to see her, because I know you want to.”
“I really don’t. Looking doesn’t get me anywhere. What’s the point?”
Steven shook with laughter. “Then explain why your side of the room sounded like a mouse running an obstacle course last night. How many trips to the bathroom did you make? Tell the truth.”
Seamus went bright red.
“That was a bladder issue! I was dealing with urgent, frequent urges to urinate! That is a medical situation!
“You can call it whatever you want, but I didn’t jerk off!”
The room dissolved into laughter.
Luke clapped Seamus on the shoulder with enormous, performative sympathy. “We get it. We’re not judging you. Not even a little.”
All three of them were barely holding themselves together.
Seamus went scarlet all the way to his ears and scrambled out of bed to get to the bathroom before anyone could say another word.
After breakfast, the group made their way to the combat training complex.
Nobody was late to Tyrant Rose’s class. The alternative was getting hit, and that was a universal deterrent.
The combat training complex was divided into multiple designated areas.
The section they were headed to was built specifically for B–rank students.
C–rank students were too numerous for the indoor spaces and had mostly been assigned to various outdoor locations around the grounds.
After a year, very few C–rank students would still be around.
C–rank was treated more like a general foundation program, something everyone walked through as a formality. Making it to level 10 within the year was already considered a ceiling, and most didn’t get there.
Outside the entrance to the B–rank training building, the morning air crackled with quiet, anticipatory
tension.
