Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 455

Ten minutes later, Marsh called back. “Boss, I found out she booked a flight back to the Capital ten days ago.”

“But she never boarded. The airport system shows her checked luggage arrived and has been sitting at baggage claim unclaimed ever since. I dug deeper and found she bought a ticket to the border right after, and the boarding records confirm she got on that flight.”

Julius’s voice turned deadly serious. “Alright, I understand. Keep digging. If you find even a trace of her, tell me immediately.”

“Understood, Boss.”

After hanging up, Julius sat in his car, deep in thought.

She went to the border?

Did she find a lead on her grandfather in international waters?

The anonymous email she received had originated from the border region.

Being near the border was one thing, but crossing it meant entering North Myanor. That place was a chaotic nightmare. If she actually went there, she was in extreme danger.

She had to be in trouble or facing a massive problem; otherwise, knowing her, she would have called him.

If she really was in danger, how helpless must she feel all alone?

There was also another terrifying possibility: her luggage was sent back, which meant she had checked it in, but then encountered someone who took her by force.

That would explain why her luggage made it to the Capital but she never boarded the plane.

The second scenario was infinitely worse.

This was all his fault. If he had just gone with her, none of this would have happened.

He had promised to help her find her grandfather, but instead, he’d left her to face the danger alone.

Why did that damn crisis in South Africa have to happen at the exact same time?

And why did it have to be him who dealt with it?!

Consumed by regret, Julius drove off to meet up with Marsh. No matter what it took, he was getting his wife back.

He would mobilize every resource and pay any price to find her!

He prayed silently over and over.

She clearly knew how to treat herself. Even alone, she didn't cut corners. The three dishes and soup looked incredibly appetizing.

She looked so slender—could she really eat all of that by herself?

“Sure. Let’s eat.” He wasn't actually hungry; he had already eaten, but he simply wanted to sit with her.

Stella went to the kitchen to grab an extra set of silverware.

It was a shame she hadn't known he’d be back for lunch; she couldn't tamper with the food in time.

As soon as they finished, he eagerly pulled her upstairs to the bedroom.

She cursed internally. Looking at his impatient, desperate expression, she knew exactly what he was after.

The moment the bedroom door clicked shut, Tiger lost control and yanked her into his arms.

“Stella, I missed you so much. I’ve been going crazy these past few days,” he groaned, leaning in for a kiss.

She pressed her hand against his mouth. “Tiger, wait. Don't be in such a rush. Can you go take a shower first? You don't have to take a bath, just a quick rinse. I really like it when you're clean. Please? Just for me?”
