Jade's head snapped to the side, a bright red handprint blooming instantly across her pale cheek. Clutching her face, her shock was quickly replaced by sheer humiliation and rage.
"You bitch, you dare hit..."
Slap!
Before she could finish, Phoenix delivered another brutal backhand, landing a perfect strike on the other side of her face.
This time, Jade was completely stunned. Tears of sheer physical pain welled up in her eyes. She had been spoiled her entire life—when had she ever suffered such an absolute disgrace?
And in front of the butler and a strange man, no less. Her pride as the St. Claire heiress had just been ground into the dirt by those two slaps.
"Jade, is it?" Phoenix slowly pulled out a wet wipe and cleaned her hands. Her voice carried a terrifying, unassailable authority. "As a member of the St. Claire family and Yara's own niece, you should know right from wrong and conduct yourself with grace. Yet the moment you show up, you spit garbage, acting like a rabid dog just because you have the title of an heiress."
She tossed the wipe into the trash bin, her gaze as sharp as a blade. "You're not just embarrassing yourself; you're dragging Yara's name through the mud."
"As her personal student, it's my duty to discipline the younger generation, to make sure your pathetic behavior doesn't taint her legacy."
Every word struck like a hammer. Her flawless, commanding reprimand completely choked Jade, leaving her unable to argue back.
Jasper stood there, completely dumbfounded.
For a moment, he actually saw the shadow of the fierce, unyielding Yara in this young woman.
When he first met Phoenix, he had only maintained a polite facade out of respect for Yara. That was why he hadn't fully intervened when Jade started picking a fight; a part of him wanted to see how this played out.
If Phoenix had acted like a shrew and started screaming back at Jade, he would have instantly dismissed her as a fake.
But she didn't. Acting with the absolute dominance of a true leader, she shattered Jade's arrogance with two clean slaps, then pinned her to the wall with undeniable logic.
Miss Yara, is this really the successor you chose?
This decisive ruthlessness truly carried the spirit of a master.
By now, Jade was bawling, massive tears splashing onto her hands.
Faced with Phoenix's overwhelming aura, it felt like cotton was stuffed in her throat. All her grievances and vicious curses were violently swallowed back down.
"Jasper, lead the way. I'd like to meet Duncan," Phoenix said, turning away with a cold laugh. "I want to ask him personally what kind of parenting produces such a brainless daughter."
