"What?!" Arthur's face paled drastically. "Are you telling me... this assassination trap was orchestrated by Elysian Manor?"

"My men are still confirming the details." Silas let out another heavy sigh, looking entirely helpless. "But Dad, I know you understand exactly who truly pulls the strings behind Elysian Manor. Yes, Eustace is currently running things on the surface, but years ago, the true mastermind was..."

Arthur raised his hand, violently cutting Silas off, as if the mere mention of that name was a heavily guarded, terrifying taboo.

"Exactly!!" Silas nodded emphatically. "My older brother had a blood feud with that woman years ago. It's entirely possible she's targeting Pierce now as revenge for what happened back then."

"But why would she wait all these years to strike? Why now?" Arthur shook his head, thoroughly confused by the logic. "If she wanted brutal revenge, it would have been infinitely easier to crush Pierce when his wings were still clipped. Why wait until he's untouchable?"

"I honestly have no idea. But there's something else..." Silas trailed off, deliberately hesitating.

"Spit it out," Arthur snapped, glaring at him.

Silas offered an awkward, calculated smile. "The truth is, the person currently commanding the Obsidian Syndicate... is Phoenix."

Arthur froze momentarily, before a look of sudden realization washed over him. During Phoenix's formal welcoming banquet back to the Prescott family, Leo Vance, the boss of the Obsidian Syndicate, had personally attended to offer his respects and had gifted her the Eclipse Nightclub.
