Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 259

“Discipline?” Pierce glanced at Phoenix, whose face remained totally impassive. His voice dropped to a freezing, lethal register. “Warren, did you forget who Phoenix belongs to now?”

The line went dead silent.

“Since she married into my family, she is mine. Were you trying to discipline her, or were you trying to slap me in the face?”

Warren sounded like his soul had just left his body. “I wouldn't! I would never! I wasn't thinking straight! Please, Mr. Sterling, for the sake of the fact that I'm Phoenix's father—your father-in-law—please show some mercy and let the Prescott Group go! If those projects and construction contracts collapse, the company is finished!”

“Father-in-law?” Pierce scoffed, a dark, playful edge weaving into his tone. “Since you brought up our family ties, I suppose we should properly calculate the cost of my 'emotional distress' tonight.”

Warren practically seized the lifeline. “Name your price! As long as it quells your anger, I'll pay whatever it takes!”

“I'm a very reasonable man,” Pierce said smoothly, as if discussing the weather. “I was terribly traumatized tonight. But since we're all family, I won't ask for much. Transfer ten percent of the Prescott Group's shares into Phoenix's name. Consider it... compensation for my shock.”

“W-What?!”

Warren sounded as if he had just been struck by lightning. His voice cracked entirely. “Ten percent?! And you want me to give it to that... to Phoenix?”

That was tearing off a massive chunk of his flesh! And giving it to the very daughter he despised most!

“What? Do you have a problem with that?” Pierce's voice turned icy as he made a show of moving to hang up. “It seems you value that ten percent more than your position as CEO. If that's the case, we'll keep playing. Let's see if your company survives the next few hours.”

“No! Don't hang up! I'll do it! I'll sign it over!”

Warren screamed, completely breaking down.

Even though the loss made his heart bleed, as long as he maintained his position of power, he still had a chance to bounce back.

“By nine o'clock tomorrow morning, I want to see the transfer agreement sitting on my desk. Remember, if you short me even a fraction of a percent... the game continues.”

Beep—!

Pierce ruthlessly cut the call.

The bathroom plunged back into silence.

Pierce tossed his phone aside and turned to look at Phoenix, his dark eyes sparkling with a victorious, self-satisfied grin. “How about that? With ten percent of the Prescott Group in your name, you can finally slam your fists on the table during their board meetings.”

Phoenix looked up, her gaze fixed on the man standing before her wrapped in plastic wrap, wearing an incredibly wicked smile.

She was the one who had orchestrated the attack that annihilated Warren's projects and contracts.

But Pierce had flawlessly taken the “blame,” using his status as the protective husband to ruthlessly tear off a massive piece of flesh from Warren on her behalf.

She knew perfectly well that if she had been the one making the demands, Warren never would have caved so easily.

Furthermore, to completely tear the Prescott family apart from the inside, she couldn't afford to burn all her bridges with Alistair just yet. She still had to play the game and give the old man face.

But with Pierce standing in front of her as a shield, even if Alistair was furious, he wouldn't dare utter a word of complaint.

It was a brilliant accident.
