Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 163

Back in her office, Phoenix called Felix Fletcher.

"You don't need to worry about the special assistant position anymore. I've found someone named Yolanda Young. Pull up her personnel files and get them organized."

"Ms. Prescott, that was fast! I already had a list drafted." Felix was clearly a man who knew how to read the room. His efficiency was top-notch, always treating Phoenix's orders as absolute gospel.

As they spoke, a new email suddenly popped up on her computer screen.

Phoenix clicked it open, and an exquisite digital invitation appeared. Seeing the subject line, the corners of her lips curled up, a hint of amusement flashing in her eyes.

"Felix, want to go see the world tomorrow?"

On the other end of the line, Felix, who had been slouched on the couch, instantly sat bolt upright, his voice booming. "Just point the way, Ms. Prescott! I'll follow your lead!"

...

Meanwhile, the Miller family's invitations flew into the hands of Cloudhaven's major families like snowflakes.

The news of Gideon Miller's recovery was like a massive boulder dropped into a calm lake. Everyone had assumed the old man wouldn't survive past Mid-Autumn this year, but now the tide had turned, meaning the Miller family's power was still firmly in his grasp.

To those in the know, this supposed recovery banquet was highly likely the crucial moment when the next heir would be announced.

In the Prescott Group's chairman's office.

Alistair Prescott stared at the gold-stamped invitation on his desk, his gaze deep. The invitation stated that the guest could bring two companions.

"Who do you think I should bring?" He looked up, his eyes scanning Julian and Phoebe.

Julian and Phoebe exchanged a knowing look. Julian spoke first. "Alistair, I think you definitely need to bring Phoebe. After all, she went to great lengths to find medical help for Gideon."

He kept his words ambiguous. Though he didn't explicitly claim Gideon's awakening was Phoebe's doing, he cleverly took the credit for her hard work.

"Phoebe should indeed go." Alistair nodded in agreement. "And the last spot?"

"I think it should go to Julian," Phoebe chimed in eagerly, acting as if she were entirely considering the family's best interests. "Alistair, even though Phoenix and Meredith Miller are as close as sisters, they... they both have prison records. Bringing Phoenix to such an occasion might damage the Prescott family's dignity and reputation."

"Sigh, Phoebe, if Phoenix was even half as sensible as you, the family wouldn't have been torn apart like this." Julian sighed, spitting out a curse in frustration. "At the end of the day, she's nothing but a jinx."

...

It wasn't until dusk fell that Phoenix finished her work.

Just as she took a break, she received a call from Eustace.

"Phoenix, there's news about the guy who was tailing you."

Phoenix's gaze darkened slightly, her fingertips tapping the desk. "Oh? Do you have him contained?"

"No, he's dead."

Phoenix's fingers paused, and her brows instantly locked together. "Dead? How did he die?"

She had looked into Hannibal Slade's background. Although not a professional assassin, he was a true fugitive with ruthless methods. How could he have died so easily?
