My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 468

"The Professor asked for you by name. He said if you have the guts to show your face, bring that book from last night."

Reading the text, Seraphina finally broke into a smile.

"That sounds exactly like him."

"Still afraid?" Lucian asked.

She pocketed her phone and stood up to gather her notes and the manuscript.

"Yes, but I'm going."

Little Bean wiggled in his crib.

"Don't be scared, Mommy! I know you're gonna win!"

After reminding Susan to keep a close eye on Little Bean, Seraphina went upstairs to fetch her book.

When she came back down, Christian Chase was already waiting at the door.

"Mrs. Langford, the boss told me to drop you off right at the institute's front gate."

She slipped into the backseat.

"What else did he tell you?"

Christian gripped the steering wheel and cleared his throat.

"Text him when you arrive, text him when you're done, don't push yourself too hard, and if anything happens, call me immediately."

Flipping through the pages of her book, she couldn't hide her smile.

"Why didn't he just recite that to me himself?"

"Mr. Langford was afraid you'd find him annoying."

"Well, at least he's self-aware."

When the car pulled up to The Green-Tech Research Institute, Caleb was already waiting at the bottom of the steps.

"Caleb."

Stepping out of the car, she peered behind him.

Caleb took her document bag and then handed it right back.

"Don't bother looking. The Professor was actually going to come down himself, but he got caught up on a call, so he sent me instead."

She didn't move.

"Are you sure he's not just avoiding me and using you as a buffer?"

Caleb laughed.

"Sera, it's been years, and somehow you've grown more timid."

"I'm not timid. I just have a criminal record with him."

"Do you honestly think I would've called you here without his explicit order?"

He motioned for her to head inside.

"He chewed me out this morning for not getting ahold of you sooner."

Her shoulders relaxed slightly.

"What did he say?"

Caleb perfectly mimicked the older man's gruff tone.

"She's right here in the city! Are you just a decoration? She's already translated down to that specific page, and you haven't brought her in yet?"

She finally laughed out loud.

"That does sound like him."
