My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 430

Sebastian never realized that when his stomach ulcers flared up, those specialized dietary meals weren't just standard recipes. She had spent months tracking down elite culinary masters, painstakingly learning how to brew the exact restorative broths he needed.

She had never demanded praise. But Lucian had looked right at her and recognized her worth without her having to say a word.

Seraphina quickly turned her head, pretending to check the fire as she wiped a stray tear from her cheek.

A low, guttural snorting echoed from the dense treeline.

"I'm going to look for some herbs to pack your wounds, and maybe scavenge some fruit."

Lucian gripped her wrist tight. "We're in the wild. There are predators out there. You have to be careful."

She gave a firm nod. "I know."

"You've got the fire here, it should keep most animals away." She pulled the single tactical knife from her belt and pressed it into his palm. "Just in case."

He shoved it back. "If you want me to let you walk into those woods alone, you are taking this with you."

"Take it. If anything feels wrong, run. Don't look back for me."

Seraphina took the heavy blade, her hand trembling but her resolve absolute. "No. We survive this together. I am not leaving you behind."

He held her gaze. "One of us making it out is better than both of us dying out here. Little Bean needs his mother."

She frowned, letting out a frustrated sigh. "You are so stubborn."

She stood up, pointing a stern finger at him. "Stay alert. I'll be close by. Yell if you need me."

"And keep the fire going."

She walked a few paces before looking back, anxiety gnawing at her.

In the flickering firelight, Lucian shot her a devastatingly handsome smirk. "I heard you, boss."

Her eyes stung. She gripped the knife tightly and disappeared into the pitch-black woods.

The second she was out of sight, his smirk vanished, replaced by an agonized grimace.
