My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 427

Seraphina read the look in his eyes. "Does the car still run?"

Lucian sprinted to the mangled SUV and twisted the ignition.

The dashboard lit up with flashing red warnings, but the heavy engine roared to life.

"It runs. Get in."

He grabbed her hand, practically throwing her into the passenger seat before reaching over to buckle her in.

Seraphina grabbed his wrist tightly. "Do you trust me?"

She had never actually been to the other side. She was betting their lives entirely on the faint breeze hitting her skin.

But they were out of options. They had to take the gamble.

Lucian stared at her blood-streaked, beautiful face without a second of hesitation. "With my life."

"When I was playing dead, I tracked the direction of the draft," she said quickly. "But it's pitch black in there, and the headlights won't reach far."

"You drive. I'll navigate."

"Don't second guess it. Just keep your foot on the gas."

Lucian nodded.

He slammed it into reverse, whipping the heavy chassis around so the crushed hood pointed directly into the abyss.

Seraphina counted the seconds in her head.

It had been a minute and forty seconds since they heard the timer.

They were almost out of time.

The high beams cut through the suffocating black, only illuminating fifteen feet ahead before being swallowed by the dark.

Lucian floored the accelerator, launching them straight into the void.

"Veer left!"

Lucian jerked the wheel. The side of the SUV violently scraped against the jagged stone wall, sending a shower of bright sparks flying through the cabin.

The tunnel wasn't a straight line—it was a labyrinth of sharp curves and blind drops.

Seraphina clung to the door handle, her knuckles white. "Straight... edge right... keep going straight..."

Two minutes.

She tracked the time silently. Shouting out the seconds would only distract him.

Three minutes and fifty seconds.
