Mission: Revenge – The Heiress's Second Life novel Chapter 22

But Zander was simply too young, and he suffered from severe autism. She had to see him with her own eyes to find any peace of mind.

Clara caught a bus heading toward the special needs academy.

As dusk settled, the streetlights flickered to life one by one, their amber glow piercing through the descending darkness.

Watching the bustling traffic and the hurried crowds of commuters leaving work, a faint sense of reality finally began to wash over her.

She stepped off the bus with the crowd and stood before the gates of the academy.

Zander had been sent here at age three, right after his autism diagnosis. He had just turned eight this year.

She vividly remembered the day she was banished from the Lambert family. Zander had barely been two years old, having just learned to walk. He had chased after her on his unsteady little legs, sobbing uncontrollably.

After signing the visitor log at the front gate, Clara headed straight for the children's dormitories.

The kids here all required special care. Thirty children shared one massive, open-plan room, supervised by dedicated staff.

Standing at the entrance, she offered a polite smile. "Hello. I'm Zander Lambert's sister. I'm here to visit him. Could you bring him out for a moment?"

The dorm supervisor's expression immediately stiffened.

She casually shifted her weight, blocking Clara's view of the room, and cleared her throat. "Zander went to bed early tonight. You should come back tomorrow."

Clara instantly knew something was wrong.

Her voice dropped to an icy chill. "If he's asleep, wake him up. I need to speak with him about something urgent."

The supervisor adopted a patronizing tone. "Eight-year-olds are going through a crucial growth phase. You can't just wake them up in the middle of the night, or it will stunt their development..."

Clara's chest tightened in excruciating pain.

Vera!

Zander's worsening condition was entirely Vera's fault!

In her past life, Clara had been too busy surviving her own nightmare to ever check on her youngest brother.

But she knew Zander. He would never attack someone unprovoked!

Someone had to have bullied him first, forcing him to defend himself and run away!

Swallowing the rising tide of rage, Clara ordered coldly, "Rouse every staff member in this school to start searching right now. If anything happens to my brother, I will destroy all of you!"
