At 8:20 AM.
The morning study hall at Springfield First Academy had just ended.
Jonathan escorted Clara into the Dean's office.
"Mr. Lambert, it's an absolute honor!" the Dean greeted them with overflowing enthusiasm. "Everything you requested has been handled. You just need to sign the transfer papers, and Clara is officially our student. I've placed her in Class One. I hope that meets your expectations?"
The top-tier students aiming for Harvard were placed in the Honors Class.
Class One was the runner-up, filled with incredibly bright students. Jonathan was more than satisfied to have Clara study alongside them.
"Mr. Yates, please give Clara an initial assessment," the Dean instructed. "Mr. Lambert, why don't we head to my office for a cup of coffee?"
Knowing he had bought both his daughters' way into the school, Jonathan was eager to maintain good relations and happily followed the Dean.
Tobias Yates, the homeroom teacher for Class One, looked thoroughly displeased.
His class was already struggling to compete with the Honors Class. Now he was being forced to take on another nepotism case, which would inevitably drag down their academic average.
He slapped a comprehensive exam paper onto a desk. "You have one hour."
Clara sat quietly in the corner, staring at the test.
Several other teachers gathered around Tobias's desk to gossip.
"The Lambert Group is a massive powerhouse here in Springfield. I heard Mr. Lambert promised to donate a new library just to secure this enrollment spot."
"Isn't Serena Lambert in your class, too? She's an excellent student. Her sister shouldn't be too far behind."
"I just pulled up her transcripts from her old school. Straight zeros across the board. Good luck, Mr. Yates."
"..."
The more they gossiped, the more irritated Tobias became.
Unable to take it anymore, he marched over to Clara's desk.
One glance at her paper, and his face turned rigid.
Clara looked up at Tobias with earnest eyes. "If I keep trying, I might get at least one right. Please, Mr. Yates, just give me a little more time."
Struck by her genuine sincerity, Tobias slowly released the paper.
In his thirty years of teaching, it was the first time he had seen a student display such a raw, desperate thirst for knowledge.
She had potential.
She simply hadn't had the proper environment to flourish before.
[Ding! Host has received genuine praise!]
[A perfect heiress must be incredibly knowledgeable. Reward: Comprehension +1.]
Clara was shocked.
Did the teacher's internal praise mean she had actually gotten everything right?
