Married at First Sight (Serenity and Zachary) novel Chapter 5462

Laurence gestured for Manny to start the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce Laurence’s true identity to everyone and announce that Laurence would officially become the CEO of Longbottom Corporation from today onward. Manny would step down and become the COO.

All company decisions would now require Laurence’s approval before they could be carried out.

Everyone accepted Laurence’s takeover. After all, his company, Longtail Group, was already strong enough to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Longbottom Corporation. He had proven that he was capable.

Only Manny and his followers were still thinking about how they could trip Laurence up.

After the meeting, Laurence returned to the CEO’s office. Manny had not moved his belongings yet, so Laurence sat on the sofa and let Manny move his things to the COO’s office, which was on the sixty-sixth floor.

Manny poured Laurence a glass of water and said, “Mr. Longbottom, I can’t move everything out immediately, so I’m afraid you’ll have to work in the conference room or the waiting area for the time being.”

Laurence did not drink the water.

He raised his head, his cold gaze locking onto Manny, and said, “You just need to move your computer. There’s no need to move the documents since you won’t be handling them anymore.”

Manny fell silent.

It was true that in this large office, the only thing that actually belonged to him was the computer.

Everything else was part of the CEO’s office. The unattended documents were also no longer his responsibility.

They belonged to Laurence now.

After a moment of silence, Manny sat across from Laurence. He glanced at Noelle and said, “Mr. Longbottom, will she remain in the office while you work? Sometimes, business secrets shouldn’t be privy to third parties.”

Laurence said in a low voice, “Noelle is my personal bodyguard. She and I are one. If I can hear it, she can too. Her loyalty is absolute, and her lips are sealed. She won’t reveal a single word.”

Manny smiled awkwardly. “But she isn’t part of the Longbottom family. She’s just your bodyguard. She can still protect you even if she stays outside.”

Manny forced a smile. “Yes, I’ll get back to work. I’ll take my computer. As for the other stuff, shall I come back upstairs and get them when I need them?”

“No need. I’ll organize everything later. I’ll have my secretary send down anything that doesn’t belong to the CEO.”

Manny nodded.

He stood up, walked to the desk, and picked up the laptop he usually used along with a box of business cards. Then, he turned and walked out.

At the door, he turned back and said, “If there’s anything you don’t understand, feel free to ask me.”

Laurence replied, “I’ve spent years understanding Longbottom Corp. My knowledge of the company is no less than yours.”

Although this was supposedly a handover of duties between the two, when it came down to it, there was hardly anything to hand over.

Laurence knew what his mission was. He had begun investigating Longbottom Corporation from the day he arrived in Havenmill. Over the years, his understanding of the company was no inferior to Manny's. In fact, he might even understand the company better than Manny did.
