“No. I have faith in Seymour.”
Remi stared at her.
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?”
That was rather insulting.
Was Stella implying Remi was less capable than Seymour?
If so, she did not appreciate it.
A faint smile touched Stella’s lips.
“Fine,” Remi said. “We can go take a look.”
Stella said nothing.
“I’ll go tell Seymour.”
Remi had never been good at resisting a challenge.
Besides, protecting Stella would not be a problem no matter where they went.
But the moment she left Stella’s room, she regretted agreeing.
Evan would be on Mance Island tonight too.
Amos had repeatedly warned them not to let Stella discover that Evan was still alive.
With that thought, Remi hurried back into the room.
“Actually, maybe we shouldn’t go.”
Stella raised an eyebrow.
“You really don’t think you can protect me?”
Remi fell silent.
She definitely did not like hearing that.
But then another thought occurred to her.
Perhaps this was a chance to let Stella see what Evan was truly capable of.
Ever since Remi had begun staying with Stella, everything she heard suggested Stella looked down on Evan and believed he was useless.
In that case…
Maybe it would be good for Stella to see just how capable the man she had married really was.
“Fine. We’re going.”
Once Remi made up her mind, she stopped worrying about the consequences.
More than anything, she wanted Stella and Evan to reconcile.
Evan had certainly wronged Stella before.
But everyone in Seaborne had seen how deeply he loved her now.
Because there had been no way to repair their relationship, everyone around Evan had been suffering along with him.
If Remi managed to break the ice between them, countless people would probably thank her.
