Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 962

“Don’t look at me like that,” Leon said. “There’s really nothing going on between us.”

Then, as though proving he had nothing to hide, he answered the call right in front of Jennifer.

Apparently, he believed that because his relationship with Monique was innocent, taking the call openly would prove he had no guilty conscience.

And he actually answered.

“Monique.”

Jennifer watched him, completely at a loss for words.

Monique’s coy voice came through the phone.

“Leon, come pick me up.”

Leon froze.

Since when did she speak to him in that tone?

The unfamiliar sweetness in her voice immediately put him on edge.

When he looked at Jennifer again, the certainty in his eyes had already weakened.

“What happened?”

His tone immediately hardened.

He never bothered putting on an act around Monique. He had always treated her more like one of the guys.

“I… someone drugged me.”

Leon went silent.

So did Jennifer.

“I don’t trust anyone here,” Monique said quickly. “Come get me from the banquet. I’m in one of the lounges.”

Something was clearly wrong with her voice.

Leon knew she was attending a banquet that evening.

Now that he had heard she had been drugged there, a vein began throbbing at his temple.

“Don’t panic. I’m coming right now.”

He ended the call.

Then he looked at Jennifer.

She was looking back at him in complete silence.

Leon could not stand the look in her eyes.

He drew in a deep breath.

“I have to go.”

“You’re going?” Jennifer asked sarcastically. “She’s been drugged. What exactly are you planning to do when you get there?”

The mockery in her voice made his chest tighten again.

“Jennifer, she’s a woman. Do you have any idea what could happen to her?”
