Chapter 849
What did it mean to be so angry you did not even have the energy to argue anymore?
Jennifer was finally finding out.
Just then, Leon’s phone rang.
“Look,” Jennifer said. “You’ve barely been gone, and it’s already about her again.”
Leon had already checked the caller ID.
“It’s not about her. Stop being so sensitive.” 1
So now every time his phone rang, Jennifer was going to assume it had something to do with Monique?
If that was how it was going to be…
“Oh?”
“It’s Evan.”
Evan was calling.
Seeing Evan’s name on the screen made Leon uneasy.
Not long ago, Evan had nearly dragged Lucas into a disaster.
And now he was still locked in a bitter fight with Felix.
Even though Felix and Stella had gone to Eirden, things between them seemed even more complicated
than before.
If Evan was calling to ask Leon for help now, it would be torture.
Jennifer gave a cold laugh when she heard it was Evan.
“Fine. I need to take this. Get some rest if you’re tired.”
Leon had no intention of taking the call in front of Jennifer.
He picked up his phone and walked away.
Jennifer did not move.
She listened carefully, trying to catch what Evan wanted from Leon.
But Leon had stepped too far away for her to hear.
“Evan,” Leon said.
“I need a favor,” Evan replied.
Leon’s mouth twitched.
So Evan really was asking for help.
“Why don’t you ask Lucas?”
He said it before Evan could explain what he needed.
“Why are you fighting with Jennifer?” Evan asked.
Evan did not think Leon and Jennifer would ever have a happy ending.
Compared to Stella, Evan understood the Wright family far better.
And Jennifer was far too clear-headed.
The moment he saw her with Leon, Evan had suspected she was never taking the relationship that seriously.
Leon told him everything.
The Redson family.
Monique.
What had happened, from beginning to end.
Then he asked, “Don’t you think she’s being unreasonable? How could she hurt someone, then decide to end the pregnancy?”
Monique was one thing.
But the pregnancy was what Leon could not accept.
Evan was silent for a moment.
Then he said, “Let her go.”
Leon froze.
