Chapter 766
Seeing the change in Stella’s expression, Aaron asked quietly, “What is it?”
“Yesterday, at the airport, I overheard him on the phone Something felt off.”
After thinking about it again and again, Stella finally told Aaron about Felix’s call at the airport.
Aaron was her brother.
“what did he say?”
“I didn’t hear the whole conversation. By the time I heard him, he was only saying that whatever it was should stay buried, and not be brought to me.”
It had only been two sentences.
But those two sentences had raised far too many questions.
Stella had spent most of the night thinking about them.
Aaron’s expression tightened slightly.
Stella expected him to say he would look into it.
Instead, he said, “Whatever it was, if he didn’t want it brought to you, it was probably because he didn’t want you getting hurt.”
Stella fell silent.
Hurt?
Was it really that simple?
What could possibly be brought to her that would hurt her?
She did not understand.
Not really.
“You should trust how Felix feels about you,” Aaron said. “Okay?”
Stella said nothing.
Trust.
Feelings.
Somewhere along the way, those words had become harder and harder for Stella to believe in.
But with Aaron saying that, she did not know what else to say.
She sniffed softly and nodded,
“Okay.”
Aaron seemed to trust Felix deeply.
And someone Aaron trusted probably could not be that bad.
Thinking that, Stella relaxed a little.
Hopefully, she really had been overthinking it.
Felix would not hurt her.
At least, that was what she kept telling herself.
But the caution in her heart never truly went away.
After dinner, Stella was tired and ready to head upstairs when Felix arrived.
He had come to see Aaron.
The housekeeper greeted him respectfully.
“Mr. Hernandez.”
Felix nodded.
“Mr. Hogarth is waiting for you in his study. I’ll show you up.‘
“All right.”
Felix nodded again.
Then he noticed Stella and changed direction, walking straight toward her.
“Tired today?”
He rested a hand lightly on her head as he spoke. 1
She looked drained, clearly more tired than usual.
“Yeah. I did a lot of walking today.”
“Where did you go?”
Stella stiffened slightly.
“I’m not really sure. Leah was the one taking me around.”
Remembering Leah’s warning that morning, Stella did not tell Felix the truth.
Even though Aaron had reassured her about Felix…
There were still things Stella did not want to say.
Felix’s eyes darkened for the briefest moment.
But he did not press her.
“If you’re tired, get some rest early.”
He lowered his hand.
Stella nodded. “Okay.”
Felix went upstairs to see Aaron.
Watching his back disappear, Stella let out a quiet breath.
Ever since the airport, being around Felix had put more pressure on her than she wanted to admit.
She kept worrying that he would somehow see through her thoughts.

And she had never been particularly good at hiding them
As she headed upstairs, Gray came from the direction of Aaron’s study.
He stopped when he saw her.
“Miss.”
“What did you find out?”
Thinking of Summer’s phone call that morning, Stella was determined to uncover the identity of whoever was helping her.
