“You’ve already waited this long. One more week won’t make a difference.”
What did Leon expect?
That the moment Monique returned, he could suppress the entire scandal?
Not a chance.
Jennifer had been dragged through the mud online for days.
Now Monique would endure the same treatment for twice as long.
“You’ve gone too far!” Leon snapped.
His fury was unmistakable.
“Yes, I have,” Stella replied. “But weren’t all of you far worse to Jennifer? What exactly did she do wrong?”
“She was attacked that viciously, and you acted as though it didn’t matter. After all, no one could break into the villa and physically hurt her, right?”
“So why are you so anxious now? Monique is perfectly safe with me.”
“Don’t worry. No one will get in here and lay a hand on her.”
The sarcasm in Stella’s voice was unmistakable.
She was throwing Leon’s own words back in his face.
He had been completely indifferent when Jennifer was being attacked.
Why was he suddenly so frantic now that it was happening to Monique?
Leon had no response.
He had known how sharp Stella’s tongue could be ever since she went after the Wright family.
Now every word was aimed directly at him.
“One week, right?” he asked through clenched teeth.
He could only hope this would be her final demand.
Before, she had said Monique would be released as soon as Stella got the result she wanted.
Now she had added another week.
Stella did not answer.
She simply hung up.
Leon listened to the disconnected tone, so furious he nearly smashed his phone.
Shane entered the room.
“Mrs. Redson wants to know when Monique can come home. Ms. Rowan has already gotten the result she wanted.”
Leon’s vision nearly went black with anger.
He lit a cigarette and took a hard drag.
