Frederick Fletcher slowly walked over, a faint, almost mischievous smile playing on his lips. "But that's all in the past now. I've adjusted perfectly. There is one thing you ought to know, though. Seraphina Shaw and I have reached an agreement to take down you and Nora together."
Finnegan's eyes snapped open. His body tensed involuntarily, and his voice was incredibly hoarse as he forced the question out. "What did she say?"
Frederick turned slowly with a chuckle, half his face hidden in the shadows. He looked at him with a predatory gaze. "Do you really care? She certainly told me a lot of interesting things. Like the secrets you confided in her back at the Fletcher estate, and all about you and Nora. She even mentioned how you kept calling Nora's name at the hospital."
He paused, letting out a light laugh, as if thoroughly entertained by the shifting emotions on Finnegan's face.
"She was absolutely furious. She never expected you to care so much about that woman. She swore to make her pay a thousand times over, to ruin her completely, and to make sure you never get what you want in this lifetime."
Finnegan's hands clenched tightly, his knuckles turning white.
He recalled waking up in bed that day, when Liam Mercer had hesitantly mentioned that Seraphina had visited briefly before leaving.
He hadn't paid it much attention at the time, as his entire focus had been on waiting for news about Nora.
Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine that Seraphina would channel all her fury from what she had overheard directly at Nora.
