I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 451

Nora's eyes narrowed sharply. "What exactly are you trying to say?"

Frederick's lips curved into a faint smile. "I assume you're smart enough to figure it out. Do I really need to spell it out for you?"

He took a sip of his tea before setting the cup down, his voice slow and deliberate. "The plane crash five years ago wasn't an accident. Finnegan tampered with it. He wanted to kill me, just like he wanted to kill your mother and brother ten years ago."

Nora froze, a deafening buzz ringing in her ears. Even hearing the words spoken aloud, the sheer shock was suffocating; she couldn't fathom that the man she had loved for so many years was actually her sworn enemy.

"You're saying Finnegan murdered my mother and my brother. Where is the proof?"

Frederick didn't answer directly. He turned his gaze toward the window, his eyes distant as if lost in a memory, and his voice dropped to a soft murmur. "On the day of the accident, your mother and brother were in the same car. He had just returned from campus and was heading out to grab you some food when the tragedy struck. The car flipped twice and plummeted over the guardrail. It was a brutal, spectacular wreck. The driver fled the scene, but when he was finally apprehended, they found a bank card on him. It held enough cash to keep him living comfortably abroad for the rest of his life."

Frederick paused for a moment. "And do you know whose name was on that account? It was Finnegan Fletcher."

A jolt of pure horror ripped through Nora. "What did you say? How could you possibly know that?"

Instead of answering verbally, Frederick casually pulled the incriminating bank card from his bag and slid it slowly across the table, his expression unreadable as he continued.
