I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 423

Nora jerked her head up, her eyes blazing with disbelief and fury. "You're out of your mind, Finnegan! Let me go!"

He spun around and roared at her, his red-rimmed eyes looking like they were about to burst into flames. His voice was a guttural, ragged snarl.

"I am crazy! I must have been crazy to think that if I just told you the truth, you'd forgive me!

"Since talking won't work, I'll do it my way! You can hate me, you can resent me all you want, but you are not getting married today! I will not stand by and watch you give yourself to another man!"

Using his overwhelming physical strength, Finnegan dragged her toward the door.

Nora had barely eaten anything all morning—just a quick sandwich to tide her over—so she simply didn't have the energy to fight him off. She thrashed and fought with everything she had, but his grip on her wrist was ironclad. She couldn't break free.

"Let go of me! What gives you the right to make choices for me?!" she yelled. "The ceremony is about to start! Do you have any idea what you're doing?!"

Completely ignoring her protests, Finnegan forced her into his car and sped off. The vehicle finally skidded to a halt in front of The Windermere Estate.

He killed the engine, yanked the rear door open, and roughly pulled Nora from the back seat.

Nora glared at him, a volatile, venomous fury brewing in her eyes. She tried to smack his hands away, but having exhausted herself fighting him the entire drive, she had nothing left. Half-dragged and half-carried, she was forced inside the house.

Finnegan kicked open the bedroom door at the end of the hallway and hauled her inside. He shoved her onto the bed and swiftly bound her wrists.

Without a word, he turned and left the room, returning moments later with a glass of water, which he held out to her.

Nora just stared at him with arctic hatred, refusing to move an inch. "You are despicable. You make me sick."
