The hospital door clicked shut. The tension in Nora's shoulders melted away as she sank back against the pillows, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.
About half an hour later, the door swung open again. Xander was back, carrying a fresh change of clothes.
The moment he stepped inside, his sharp instincts kicked in. He swept a quick glance over the room before his eyes locked onto Nora's slightly furrowed brow. He set his bags down, walked straight to the bed, and checked her temperature with the back of his hand.
"What's wrong? You look pale."
Nora shook her head, looking utterly exhausted. "It's nothing. Finnegan was just here."
Xander's hand paused in mid-air. A flash of deadly coldness tore through his eyes, though he quickly masked it. "What did he want?"
"He wanted to reveal the 'secret' about his identity," Nora replied dryly.
She actually found it somewhat hilarious. "What on earth makes him think I'd still care about that after all this time?"
Xander's eyes darkened. "So... because he came by, you..."
Nora interrupted him, her eyes shining bright. "Xander, let's get our marriage license as soon as possible."
Xander's gaze instantly locked onto hers.
"I know I said we should wait," Nora continued smoothly. "But I don't feel like waiting anymore. Love doesn't always need time to prove itself. After nearly dying, everything just clicked into place. There's so much I haven't done yet, and I refuse to live with regrets. So, I don't want to wait. I want to do this immediately."
Xander lowered his head in silence for a few seconds before looking up at her with heavy, intense eyes. "Is this because of Finnegan?"
