I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 390

Finnegan looked down at her hands, his tone utterly devoid of emotion. "Let go."

But Seraphina refused to release her grip, her nails digging desperately into his suit.

With a predatory gaze, Finnegan pried her fingers off one by one, his actions leaving no room for resistance. He shoved her toward the door, yanked it open, and barked at Elena Bennett sitting outside. "Call security to watch Ms. Shaw pack her things. I don't want her in this building twenty minutes from now."

Elena was clearly startled by the outburst. She froze for a second before nodding frantically and reaching for the phone.

What on earth had happened between them? Mr. Fletcher had always been so indulgent with this woman, yet now he was kicking her out without a second thought.

Pushed out the door, Seraphina let the tears stream down her face as she stared at the man who had once been so gentle and considerate, yet now refused to spare her even a single glance.

She let out a miserable laugh just as the security guards stepped off the elevator, leaving her no choice but to turn and follow them.

The office door shut behind her with a heavy, definitive thud.

Seraphina had no idea how she made it out of the building. The cardboard box in her arms held years of personal belongings. It wasn't actually that heavy, but to her, it felt suffocatingly crushing.

She took a cab home. The gates of the villa were shut tight, and it was only when the staff saw her that they opened up to welcome her in. One of them opened their mouth to speak, but upon seeing the tear tracks on Seraphina's face, wisely clamped it shut.

Seraphina walked straight upstairs and locked herself in her bedroom. She dropped the box onto the floor, collapsed onto the bed, and finally burst into loud, agonizing sobs.
