What the hell had he been thinking?! He wanted to rip his own skin off in regret.
He had been impossibly, catastrophically blind!
Finnegan violently yanked his arm out of her grasp, his voice radiating pure disgust. "Enough! You make my stomach turn, Seraphina. I finally understand why I always felt a vague sense of unease whenever I looked at you. Now I know the truth—it's because you have never once been genuine with me. How am I supposed to ever trust a woman whose entire existence is a fabrication?"
Seraphina shook her head wildly. "No! That's not true! Any lie I ever told you was a white lie to protect us! I didn't want you to think poorly of me! I may have been manipulative to others, but I was always true to you! Every word, every smile, every touch was real! You can't abandon me like this, Finnegan! Have you forgotten that you faked your own death for me?! We've been together for five years!"
The fact that she dared to bring up that history made Finnegan's blood boil. It was the greatest shame of his life.
"Shut up! You actually have the nerve to bring that up?! If it wasn't for you, I would have never been separated from Nora for so long! I would have never forced her to endure the agony of raising Cassie all by herself! I wouldn't have subjected her to endless trauma! It was all because of you, Seraphina! You tore my family apart, and you still have the audacity to demand my loyalty?!"
Hearing those words, Seraphina froze completely. She stared at the man who had once showered her with absolute devotion, unable to comprehend the hatred burning in his eyes.
"You regret it, don't you?" she whispered, her voice trembling. "I knew it. I've seen you regretting it for months. You want to get back together with Nora!"
