His words made her ears burn. She gave a slow nod. "Anywhere is fine."
Xander stepped aside to let her in. As Nora entered, she realized the space was completely different from what she had envisioned.
The living room downstairs was decorated in a cool, minimalist Scandinavian style, so she assumed this room would feature the same stark gray tones. Instead, the color palette was bright and inviting.
Nora slowly turned around. Xander was standing in the doorway watching her. Bathed in the warm yellow light, he looked unexpectedly gentle.
"Let me know if you need anything else. Goodnight."
With that, Xander closed the door.
Nora let out a breath and sat on the edge of the bed. Looking around, she was stunned to find the room fully stocked with every amenity she could possibly need.
She walked over to the vanity and sat down, noticing a vast array of women's cosmetics and premium skincare products. It was obvious Xander had put real thought into this. A wave of genuine gratitude washed over her.
Just then, her phone lit up. It was a text from Xander: "Did I miss anything?"
Nora quickly typed back: "No, everything I use is right here. Thank you, really."
Xander simply replied: "Mm."
And that was it. Nora stared at the screen, wondering what exactly "Mm" was supposed to mean.
She scratched her head and decided not to overthink it. At least he couldn't be mad.
Nora went into the en-suite bathroom to freshen up, then climbed into the plush, massive bed. She immediately realized that even the bedsheets were from her preferred luxury brand.
Xander really was incredibly detail-oriented.
