I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 265

Sienna tumbled off the bed. Her legs went weak and she couldn't stand, so she just collapsed on the floor, dragging herself forward to desperately hug Nora's calves.

Broken whimpers tore from her throat, as if a stomach full of words were jammed in her windpipe but she couldn't force a single syllable out.

Her hands scrambled wildly in her pockets. She pulled her phone out, dropped it on the floor, picked it back up, and typed on the screen with trembling fingers.

Nora turned her head to look at her coldly and pulled her legs free from her grip. "Say whatever you want to the police. I'm not listening to another word from you."

She turned and walked out. Sienna lay on the floor, staring at her back, reaching one hand out in her direction, fingers grasping desperately at the empty air, but catching nothing.

Her vision blurred into a teary mess. In a daze, she seemed to see a scene from many years ago, the two of them standing at the school gates in their graduation gowns, laughing until their faces ached, refusing to go home.

She lay on the floor, burying her face in her arms, her shoulders shaking violently. If only she could do it all over again.

If she could start over, she absolutely wouldn't have listened to a single word Seraphina said.

The police pushed the door open and hauled her up from the floor. The moment the handcuffs clicked around her wrists, Sienna went limp and was half-dragged out of the apartment by two female officers.

In the interrogation room, Sienna used a pen and paper to write down every single word Seraphina had said to her.

But Seraphina hadn't directly ordered her to do anything. Every sentence was a subtle manipulation, stepping precisely on Sienna's most fragile emotional triggers, pushing her to take that final step herself.

Legally, however, these words didn't meet the requirements for incitement to commit a crime. There were no explicit instructions, no direct exchange of benefits. She was just chatting, speaking out against an injustice for a friend.

Furthermore, The Fletcher Family's legal team swiftly intervened upon hearing of Sienna's arrest. As the future lady of the house, Seraphina received the highest tier of legal protection.

The officer flipped through the case file in his hands and gave her the general sentencing range.

"It depends on the circumstances. For more serious cases, it could be the death penalty or life imprisonment, or over ten years in prison. For lighter offenses, it's three to ten years. She's also committed other crimes before. With the combined punishment for multiple offenses, it won't be light."

After hearing this, Nora stayed silent for a moment, then stood up. "Let me see her."

The door to the interrogation room was pushed open again. Hearing the noise, Sienna jerked her head up. When she saw Nora walk in, her eyes reflected a nearly uncontrollable glimmer of excitement.

She shot up from the chair, only to be yanked back down by the handcuffs, letting out garbled, frantic whimpers.

Nora sat down across the interrogation table. The expression on her face was just as cold as it had been in the apartment, and her voice lacked any unnecessary inflection. "What did you want to see me for?"
