On the other hand, Nora Newman received a call from Bonnie Harrison right after she got off work.
The little girl's cheerful voice poured through the receiver, every word laced with an unconcealed excitement that practically bounced into her ear.
"Nora, you haven't come to see me in so long! I miss you! My dad misses you too!"
As soon as Bonnie said that, Nora clearly heard a deep, magnetic voice on the other end calling Bonnie's name with a hint of warning.
She was very familiar with that voice. It was the helpless tone Xander Harrison always used with his daughter.
Nora smiled. She didn't feel any aversion to it; instead, an indescribable warmth swelled in her chest.
She packed her things as she walked through her front door. "Tomorrow is the Medical Innovation Signing Ceremony for my work. Do you want to come?"
Bonnie cheered, her voice even more ecstatic than before. "Are you inviting me?"
Nora smiled and said yes, of course she was.
Bonnie immediately tilted her little face up toward Xander, who had just walked out of the study. Her large, bright eyes were filled with unconcealed pride and showing off.
It was as if she were saying, *Look, Dad, she invited me, not you.*
Xander raised an eyebrow. He walked over, bent down, and lightly tapped her on the forehead. His deep voice carried the helpless indulgence of a father being teased by his daughter. "You little rascal."
Bonnie stuck her tongue out at him and made a face, then spoke righteously into the phone. "I wasn't wrong. If you only invited me, it means you only like me."
Hearing Xander's voice right next to Bonnie made Nora feel a bit awkward on the other end of the line.
"Mr. Harrison, I apologize if this is a bit abrupt. Tomorrow is the Medical Innovation Signing Ceremony between the Vance Institute of Medical Science and the Fletcher family. Could you come if you have the time? After all, you are one of our key stakeholders."
As soon as she finished, she braced herself for a rejection.
Given Xander's usual style, he always pushed away public commercial events like this whenever possible. He never showed his face easily.
Moreover, tomorrow's main stars were the Institute and the Fletcher family. As the head of the Harrison family, his appearance at an event dominated by the Fletchers was something that required careful calculation.
However, to her complete surprise, Xander agreed.
His voice maintained that same calm, steady tone, as if unbothered by a single ripple. Without any hesitation or conditions, he simply said, "Alright. I'll bring Bonnie tomorrow."
