I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 185

Nora's consciousness had been drifting in the drug-induced haze for too long. Every time she struggled to the surface, an even more violent wave of dizziness pulled her right back under.

Gideon leaned over her, the acne scars on his face swaying sickeningly in her blurred vision, turning her stomach.

He scoffed coldly, hooking a finger under the neckline of her dress and yanking it down. The sound of tearing fabric was deafening in the quiet room!

"Don't rush it. I'm going to give you exactly what you want!"

Her struggles were so weak they almost looked like a playful rejection. She mumbled refusals, her breathing growing ragged as her cheeks flushed with an unnatural heat from the drug.

Gideon had never seen such a beautiful woman in his life; she was absolutely stunning.

He smacked his lips, suddenly feeling a surge of jealousy toward Finnegan. To think that even after all these years, she was still saving herself for a dead man.

Before he even finished the thought, he gave a violent tug, ripping Nora's jacket completely off her shoulders!

Nora's eyes shot wide open. She desperately wanted to scream and fight back, but her body was devoid of strength. In a final, desperate attempt to stay lucid, she bit her tongue hard enough to draw blood!

The metallic tang of blood instantly flooded her mouth. The sharp pain acted like a needle piercing through her clouded mind, buying her a few precious seconds of clarity.

Using those few seconds, she scrambled back into the corner of the bed, clutching her torn neckline tightly. Her free hand blindly searched for anything she could use as a weapon.

Her voice was raspy and trembling, her breaths heavy, but her mind was sharper now. She was playing a psychological game.

"It's not too late to let me go. I won't press charges against you, I swear. Just let me walk out of here, and I won't go to the police."

Gideon sneered, taking a menacing step forward. "I didn't expect a broad like you to have so much willpower. You actually managed to wake up? Sienna dumped a whole bottle of that stuff in your drink. Any other woman would be out cold by now, and you think you're in a position to negotiate?"

At that very split second, the hotel room door was violently kicked open from the outside.

The broken metal pieces of the lock ricocheted off the wall and clattered onto the floor, making a sharp, ringing sound!

His mood ruined, Gideon turned around, shouting curses. "Who the hell is it!"

As he turned, he locked eyes with Xander's face, which was as cold and hard as iron.

Xander stood in the doorway, his assistant and several startled hotel security guards flanking him.

The guards peered inside and instantly grasped the situation. Two massive, burly men rushed in, dragging Gideon off the bed by his arms and pinning him face-down against the carpet.

Before Gideon could even react, his face was shoved deep into the rug. He struggled wildly, his eyes wide as he yelled, "Who are you people?! Why are you interrupting me and my wife? We're legally married!"
