Nora forced a strained smile. "It's nothing, Felix. Let's just focus on the show."
She forcefully redirected all her attention to the stage, refusing to cast even a single glance back toward the front row.
Felix, however, couldn't sit still. His friend claimed it was nothing, but he had clearly seen the devastating look in her eyes just moments ago.
He stared deeply at Nora's profile, a faint pang of sorrow tightening his chest.
She still hadn't moved on from Finnegan. Even after all this time, and even knowing that man had moved on to a new family, seeing them together still broke her heart.
His heart felt incredibly heavy. He instinctively raised his hand to comfort her, but right at that moment, Nora happened to turn her head. "Felix? Is something wrong?"
Felix's hand froze mid-air before he smoothly pulled it back, offering a gentle smile. "Nothing. Let's just enjoy the music."
Nora didn't think much of it and turned back to the performance.
Felix let out a silent sigh. A flash of disappointment crossed his eyes as he forced himself to focus on the music as well.
When the concert finally ended and the house lights flickered on, the audience began to rise and exit.
Finnegan, Seraphina, and Cassie left early through the VIP aisle. As Cassie walked away, she kept turning her head to scan the back rows as if searching for someone, but Seraphina quickly guided her out.
Felix stood up and grabbed Nora's jacket for her. The two of them slowly followed the crowd out of the hall.
As they reached the lobby, Nora suddenly paused. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Xander's assistant standing near the security office, speaking intensely with a staff member.
So, he really had gone to investigate.
Nora said nothing and walked out of the concert hall with Felix.
As they stepped through the main doors, the crisp evening breeze of early autumn hit them, carrying a refreshing chill.
Nora remained silent. She felt absolutely zero obligation to explain herself to him.
Without waiting for a response, he aggressively pressed on. "Why are you two suddenly so close? Don't say I didn't warn you. Do you have any idea who Xander Harrison is? He isn't someone you should be messing around with. Even if you want to remarry..."
He paused, his Adam's apple bobbing sharply. "...you shouldn't do it just to spite me."
Hearing those last words, Nora couldn't suppress the bitter scoff that escaped her lips.
She looked up at him, her gaze so flat and unbothered it bordered on glacial. Her voice was painfully slow and deliberate. "Finnegan..."
She intentionally dragged out his name, loudly and clearly, ensuring it served as a brutal reminder of the absolute boundary between them.
"Finnegan," Nora repeated, a sarcastic smirk pulling at the corner of her mouth. "What gives you the right to stand there and lecture me about this?"
