Cassie hopped down from her seat, clutching two exquisitely crafted plush toys in her hands. She ran over and held one out to Bonnie. "Here, you can have one. Seraphina bought these for me in the lobby."
It was a fluffy little bunny with sparkling sequins sewn into its ears, genuinely well-made.
Bonnie initially wanted to shake her head, but her eyes were glued to the adorable bunny's face. After hesitating for a couple of seconds, she reached out and took it, muttering, "Thank you. Why are you here with them again?"
Cassie lifted her chin matter-of-factly. "Why wouldn't I be? My mom would never come to a place like this. She's incredibly boring. Only Seraphina brings me to fun places."
Those words grated on Bonnie's ears, making her deeply uncomfortable. "Your mom isn't boring at all."
Cassie scoffed, letting out a cold laugh. "You speak like you actually know my mom. I know exactly what kind of person she is. I don't need you telling me."
Bonnie gripped the little bunny tightly. She was just about to fire back when a hand gently tugged her arm.
She turned to meet Xander's gaze. It was calm but left no room for argument. Bonnie swallowed her retort, simply frowning at her father.
At that moment, Finnegan noticed the exchange. He stood up and walked over, flashing his practiced corporate smile as he extended a hand to Xander. "Mr. Harrison, you're attending the concert as well?"
Xander stood, shook his hand briefly, and offered a polite smile. "Just bringing my daughter out."
Finnegan looked down at Bonnie and greeted her warmly. "Hello there, Bonnie."
Bonnie felt no fondness for him. She remembered this man perfectly well, and she remembered the terrible things he had done to Nora.
"What is wrong with you, Bonnie! Why did you hit Seraphina? You can't just hit people! You're a terrible kid!"
Bonnie stood her ground, her hands clenched into tight fists at her sides, her chest heaving heavily.
She glared at Seraphina with icy resentment. "I don't want her touching me."
She hated Seraphina. All she ever did was put on a fake act; she wasn't even a fraction as wonderful as Nora.
Xander's expression darkened instantly. "Bonnie, apologize," he ordered coldly.
