Sasha debated whether to go up and investigate, but out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a man squatting near the building's entrance. He wore a dark jacket, a baseball cap pulled low, and a mask that obscured his features entirely.
He was holding a phone to his ear, speaking in hushed tones.
"Yeah, it's Finn Fletcher."
Sasha's heart leaped into her throat. She needed to hear more.
Pretending to search her purse for something, she slowly inched closer to the masked man.
Snippets of his conversation drifted toward her.
"...Confirmed it from the opposite building with binoculars. Yeah, Finn is at her place. He's fixing her AC... That's right, he even cleaned up the apartment... How the hell should I know why he's doing it? I snapped a few photos. They're a bit blurry, but it's definitely him... If you don't believe me, come see for yourself."
Sasha's fingers curled into tight fists.
The Finn she knew was a man who sat in the cockpit of a private jet, soaring high above the clouds.
He was the ruthless Fletcher heir who barely spoke at banquets but commanded absolute respect from everyone in the room.
How could he possibly be in this rundown neighborhood, fixing someone else's AC?
Cleaning an apartment?
It was completely absurd!
Suddenly, Sasha recalled the lunch they had shared earlier. Finn had been glued to his phone, watching a tutorial on cleaning AC filters.
At the time, she assumed he was just watching mindless, satisfying videos to decompress. She hadn't thought twice about it.
Now, the sickening reality hit her: he was learning on the fly.
All to wait on Sienna hand and foot?
A throbbing pain spiked at Sasha's temples, and her chest grew tight with suffocating jealousy.
The masked man ended his call and slipped into an unremarkable van parked nearby.
The van didn't pull away, clearly opting to remain on stakeout.
Sasha hesitated for a few seconds before retreating to her Porsche.
She needed to see the truth for herself.
About half an hour later, the building doors swung open.
