I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 371

"Be careful up there."

Sienna quickly turned and retreated to the kitchen to pour a glass of water, dropping in two ice cubes to cool her sudden flush.

She stared down at the condensation forming on the glass, using the moment as a temporary refuge rather than rushing back out.

After a brief pause, she poured a second glass and carried it out to the living room.

Finn worked with efficient precision. He had already removed the filter and was currently squatting on the floor, inspecting the slot mechanism.

Sienna walked over and offered the glass of water.

"You've been working hard. Have some water."

Finn reached up to take it, his fingertips brushing against hers.

His touch was cool, sending a faint, electric shiver across her skin like a fleeting piece of ice.

The sensation was incredibly light, vanishing almost before she could register it, yet the lingering coolness on her fingers refused to fade.

She pulled her hand back, subtly curling her fingers into her palm.

"Go ahead and do your thing," Finn said, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead as he turned back to the AC unit. "I'll let you know when it's done."

Sienna nodded, turning on her heel to sit back at her desk.

She opened her book, her eyes fixed on the text, but for a few seconds, she didn't read a single word.

In her peripheral vision, she could see Finn crouched by the bathroom door, tilting his head as he studied the dust on the filter with absolute, unwavering focus.

A few stray hairs at the nape of his neck were damp with sweat, clinging to his skin and curving as he bent his head. The hard lines of his shoulder blades shifted visibly beneath his thin t-shirt.

She forced her eyes back to the page. This time, she actually absorbed the words.

An undetermined amount of time passed before a soft beep echoed overhead, followed immediately by the rush of cold air.

Sienna looked up. The AC was running perfectly.

Finn stood directly beneath the vent, his head tilted back as if verifying the airflow, or perhaps just enjoying the chill.

She stood and walked over, coming to a halt right beside him.

They stood shoulder to shoulder as the cold breeze washed over them, lifting the loose strands of hair around her face.

She glanced up at the vent, a small, unconscious smile touching her lips.
