Sienna Sterling looked at him with a faint smile.
"Have I lost the right to decide where I live now?"
Silas Hayes froze for a moment.
Her tone was light, as if she were joking, but the words themselves held no humor.
"Of course not." He released Sienna's hand and leaned back against the seat. "I just thought moving to the Hayes Estate would be more convenient. We could see each other more often, and it would give you a chance to understand me better."
Sienna looked down, smoothing out her cuffs, her voice remaining soft.
"We've only been together for a few days, and I already can't decide where I sleep. Does that mean I won't have a say in anything moving forward?" She looked up, still smiling, but the warmth didn't reach her eyes.
Silas stared at her, silent for several seconds.
He wanted her to move in for reasons beyond mere convenience.
Caspar Young had found out that the apartment Sienna rented at Solstice Heights likely belonged to Finn Fletcher.
She was living on another man's territory.
The thought drove a thorn into Silas's heart. He didn't know when they might run into each other, when they might talk, or when old sparks might reignite.
Silas refused to let that happen.
But his pride wouldn't allow him to voice that particular reason out loud.
"If you feel that way, then hold off on the move." Silas softened his tone. "I respect your decision. I was merely bringing it up to discuss it with you. Don't overthink it."
Sienna didn't reply.
She turned her head to look out the window.
"Caspar is already at my place," she said, her voice quiet but every word crystal clear. "Strangers have entered my private home."
Silas's hand twitched.
She kept the smile on her face, and her tone wasn't harsh, but after years of navigating the cutthroat corporate world, he knew exactly what this was—it wasn't a lover's pout, it was rebellion.
A soft tone masking an ironclad attitude.
Suddenly, Silas felt that this side of Sienna only made her more captivating.
She was a million times better than those shallow women who threw dramatic tantrums at the first sign of a problem.
"I'm sorry." Silas pulled out his phone. "That was thoughtless of me. I'll call Caspar right now."
