It was the seat furthest from the head, right next to the exit.
The exact same spot Ford used to relegate lowly interns and observers to.
Ford's face flushed with violent rage.
"Don't push it, Finn!"
The door swung open again.
Lance Dayton strolled in, trailed by two assistants.
Lance was the only son of Jarvis Dayton, the company's second-largest shareholder. In his early thirties, Lance had spent the last few years shadowing his father to learn the ropes.
Believing his ultimate ally had arrived, Ford instantly straightened his spine. He shot Finn a triumphant smirk.
"Lance," Ford greeted him, his tone oozing with fake, brotherly warmth. "Perfect timing. How's your little girl doing? She just turned six, right? I saw a limited-edition Lego set the other day and had my people set it aside for her."
"Don't bother," Lance replied dismissively. "Her mother took her to a summer camp in the States. They aren't in town."
Ford's smile slipped for a second, but he plastered it right back on.
"Is that so? So you've got the house to yourself? Let's grab some drinks tonight, it's been ages."
Lance completely ignored the invitation.
He swept his gaze across the room.
"Is everyone here?"
The remaining board members filed in and took their seats.
Left standing awkwardly, Ford's mouth twitched, but he swiftly resumed his smug, confident facade.
Today was the final showdown. The board was voting on who would stay in power—Finn or Ford.
One of Ford's diehard cronies stood up, practically shouting to ensure everyone heard him.
"Finn's claim is entirely illegitimate! He's trying to orchestrate a hostile takeover. He has no right to even sit at this table!"
Ford leaned back, smiling at Finn with the sickening, patronizing patience of an older statesman scolding a brat.
"My brother has always been impulsive," Ford sighed, shaking his head. "First, he threw tantrums until we let him fly planes. Now, he suddenly wants to run a massive corporation. He lacks the discipline for management. You should just go back to playing with your airplanes, Finn."
He sighed again, putting on an award-winning performance.
