A crack finally appeared in Finn's stony demeanor.
He lifted his head, his previously hollow gaze locking onto her with lethal focus.
Since he had walked in, he had watched everything unfold through a detached, apathetic fog.
He hadn't cared when she knelt, he hadn't cared when she cried, and he hadn't cared when she tried to guilt-trip him.
But the second she dared to say Sienna's name, something dark and dangerous ignited within him.
"You don't have the right to utter her name."
His voice was low, but it dripped with an undeniable, deadly warning.
Yolanda recoiled.
She was completely unprepared for his absolute venom.
"Finn Fletcher, aren't you afraid of going to hell for treating your own mother like this? Aren't you afraid of everyone turning their backs on you?"
Finn stared back at her with absolute calm.
"Are you finished?"
"You ungrateful bastard!"
Finn stood up.
He moved slowly, but the sheer coldness of his posture made Yolanda snap her mouth shut.
"It seems that apart from cursing me out and defending Ford, you have nothing left to say." He looked down at her. "I will say this one last time. Ford made his own choices. Just like you, he broke the law. I didn't put him there."
Yolanda burst into fresh tears.
Seeing Finn actually turning to leave, a wave of pure terror crashed over her.
"Finn! Finn!" she plastered herself against the glass, her screaming giving way to desperate wails. "My baby, please don't do this! I was wrong, I was just angry! Your brother... he's your flesh and blood..."
Finn stopped and turned around.
He watched Yolanda groveling against the reinforced pane.
Her hair was a tangled mess, her uniform was crumpled, and her face was slick with snot and tears.
The former Mrs. Fletcher, once the pinnacle of high society, now looked like a crushed snail writhing in the dirt.
For the first time in his life, he just felt pity for her.
"Let me ask you something, Mom."
Yolanda nodded frantically.
"Ford and I are both your sons. How could you ever be this biased?"
Yolanda opened her mouth, stammering.
"What are you talking about? You're both my boys. How could I ever be biased? I never..."
