I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 230

"Your own son is being abused by your older brother. What's your play this time?"

Finn slammed on the brakes and pulled the car over to the side of the road.

Sienna watched in silence as he got out and pulled open the rear door.

He glanced at York sleeping in her arms, then looked at her.

"Step out. I need to explain something."

Sienna didn't move.

"We have nothing left to talk about. We're completely done with each other, remember?"

Finn's hand gripped the edge of the car door. The wind tugged at the collar of his white t-shirt, exposing the sliver of skin just below his collarbone.

His voice was barely a whisper.

"Just give me a minute. Please?"

Sienna's heart hammered against her ribs. Why was it that even though she despised him to her core, a single plea from him could still leave her a complete mess?

Feigning total indifference, she gently shifted York's sleeping form onto the leather seat and stepped out of the car.

The sound of the door closing was soft.

The sun was setting, painting the street in a wash of burnished gold.

In the distance, the towering skyscrapers were sliced in half by light and shadow, while the elongated silhouettes of the nearby trees danced wildly across the pavement with every gust of wind.

They stood a mere two feet apart.

Sienna's shadow stretched to his feet, overlapping with his own before drifting apart in the fading light.

Finn stared at her.

She wore a pale blue blouse tucked into a dark midi skirt, perfectly accentuating her waist.

Her sleeves were rolled up to the elbows, highlighting the slender lines of her forearms.

The golden hour light bathed her face, her long lashes casting delicate, fan-shaped shadows beneath her eyes.

Sienna forcefully reigned in her thoughts, focusing back on the immediate bombshell.

"Wait... so York is the son of Chloe Cross and Ford...?"

"Chloe has been obsessed with him since childhood. They dated, and I always assumed Ford would marry her. But four years ago, my parents cornered me. They told me Chloe was pregnant with his baby, but Ford had to marry into the Hayes family for political power, so no one could ever find out. Chloe threatened to die rather than abort the baby. You know the rest of the nightmare."

He looked deeply into Sienna's eyes.

"Everything that went wrong between us is entirely my fault. The regret has been eating me alive for years. But I made my choices, and I will own every single consequence."

Sienna stood frozen, a bone-deep chill seeping into her veins.

The wind whipped past, blowing strands of hair across her face.

The profound, beautiful love they had shared had been mercilessly slaughtered over a completely fabricated, absurd lie. She felt like an absolute joke.

Sienna clenched her fists tightly.

"Finn, you are completely out of your mind. There isn't a single sane person in your entire family."
