Aurora’s POV
The next morning, I woke up early. Morning light slipped through the curtains and landed across the blanket in pale strips.
Beside me, Silas shifted slightly.
I turned my head and found him staring at me.
His dark hair was messy from sleep, and one tiger ear had slipped out from between the strands, twitching once when our eyes met.
“Morning,” he smiled.
I narrowed my eyes at him. “How long have you been awake?”
He paused. “…Not long.”
I kept staring at him. His gaze drifted away from mine. His tail moved under the blanket, making the fabric rise slightly, and then it wrapped around my calf.
“OK,” He finally admitted, “A while.”
I couldn’t help laughing. “Were you watching me sleep?”
He let out a low growl and pinned me down, kissing my neck as if
punishing me. I giggled beneath him, squirming and twisting, tangling the sheets into a complete mess.
Then we both froze. Because we both felt the change of his body.

He braced his arms beside each side of my head, staring down at me. His breathing quickened. And he looked as though he wanted to melt me into his body.
“Umm…” I blinked. “I want to do this, but we still need to go to the Matching Center.”
He quickly came back to his senses. “Right. Sorry.”
He scrambled out of bed and bolted for the bathroom as fast as he could.
burst out laughing behind him.
It took me a while to decide what I was going to wear today.
My chosen dress was white, simple with soft fabric and a clean cut. I had bought it last year, when I still believed Connor and I would complete our bonding. I remembered holding it against myself in the mirror back then, wondering if Connor would like it.
Now, I pulled it from the hanger and felt nothing for that old memory. The dress had been waiting for the wrong day.
I changed into it and fixed my hair in front of the mirror. That’s when Silas came into the room already with his suit on.
The black fabric made his shoulders look even broader, and his dark hair was neatly combed back, revealing his sharp features. He already looked intimidating on normal days, but now there was something almost dangerous about him, like he had walked out of some expensive magazine and accidentally ended up in my house.
Silas was staring too.
His eyes moved over my dress, then returned to my face. His throat shifted.

Chapter B
“Aurora,” he said quietly. “You look beautiful.”
1288 outer
face warmed up. “Thanks. Come here. Let me fix that tie for you.”
We ended up standing side by side in front of the hallway mirror. My white dress and his black suit looked unexpectedly right together.
Silas’s hand hovered near mine for a second, as if he wanted to hold it but wasn’t sure whether he should. I noticed and took his fingers first.
“Do you regret agreeing so quickly?” he asked.
“Of course not. It was my idea, remember?”
His gaze dropped to my lips. He didn’t hesitate this time. He leaned down and kissed me.
His first kiss was careful. A soft touch, almost asking.
Then my fingers tightened around his.
Silas drew in a breath and slipped his arm around my waist. The kiss deepened, and my back touched the edge of the wall beside the mirror. His chest pressed against my palm, firm and warm beneath the suit. I could feel his heartbeat, steady at first, then faster.
He was still trying to be gentle. I could tell by the way his hand stayed at my waist, holding me but not trapping me. But the low rumble in his chest betrayed him.
With Silas, we could barely keep our hands off each other. That’s so magical.
We were both caught up in this intimate moment when a sharp noise came from downstairs.

I jumped up immediately. “What’s going on?”
Stay back” Silas moved ahead of me, striding down the stairs.
