Chapter 17
Aurora’s POV
Silas had been standing near the entrance quietly, probably giving me space to handle my family. But now, he walked to my side and stopped there. His tall figure instantly made the room feel smaller.
Mom’s eyes widened. Dad stood up from the couch without realizing it.
“You…” Mom stared at Silas, her voice suddenly uncertain. “Who are you?”
“That’s my werebeast. Silas, a weretiger,” I said.
My parents gasped in shock as though they couldn’t believe this. Silas held my hand in front of them to confirm everything.
“Yes,” he said. “I am.”
Dad’s gaze moved over Silas’s face, his posture, his unmistakable predatory aura.
Then his expression changed again.
“S–rank,” he said in shock.
‘Mom gasped. She suddenly looked at me like she had never seen me before.
Then something even more ridiculous happened. Her anger disappeared. Her expression softened at once. She even forced out an awkward smile.
“Oh! You’ve found a new werebeast,” she said quickly. “Why didn’t you

tell us earlier, Aurora? We’re your family!”
Was she serious?

A minute ago, I was cruel and heartless. No werebeast would ever want
Now that Silas was S–rank, suddenly I was her daughter again.
The truth was, my family had always cared about reputation. Having an S rank werebeast in the family was not just a private blessing. It was status, and power, and something she could show off at every party for the next ten years.
And I noticed that Phoebe’s face had gone pale.
She put on the drama today to get everyone’s attention on her. But now both of our parents were staring at my new werebeast. She must feel horrible.
Then, she slowly lowered her head and clutched her bandaged wrist with trembling fingers.
“Mom…” she whispered, her voice so soft that it almost broke apart. “My wrist hurts.”
“Call the doctor back in if it hurts,” she said quickly. her eyes were still on Silas. “Don’t move around too much.”
Phoebe froze.
I saw the exact second her pitiful expression cracked.
Usually, that one weak sentence was enough to drag both of my parents back to her side.

But this time, Mom only glanced at her wrist. Then her gaze drifted back to Silas and she came over to us.
“Aurora,” she whispered urgently, “have you completed the bonding ceremony with him yet?”
I frowned. “Not yet.”
“Then hurry up,” Mom whispered, grabbing my arm. “Don’t be stupid this time. An S–rank werebeast is extremely rare. You must sign the papers as soon as possible. Before someone else gets ideas.”
I slowly pulled away.
“Interesting,” I said. “I thought no werebeast would want to stay with someone as cruel as me.
Mom’s face stiffened. “A mother says angry things sometimes. Don’t take it to heart.”
“You say hurtful things ALL the time. And it’s hard not to take
personally,” I said. “If you’ll excuse me, Silas and I are leaving. Your other daughter’s still waiting for you.”
With that, I held Silas’s hand and we marched out of the house.
By the time we got home, it was already late.
Silas cooked dinner, but I barely tasted anything. My mind kept drifting back to Mom’s words.
…Bonding ceremony.

After dinner, Silas cleaned the kitchen while I sat at the table, watching his back.
He turned around and caught me staring.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
I quickly looked down at my cup. My first instinct was to hide my thoughts from him. But then I realized, this was Silas. There’s no need for me to be insecure in front of him.
