I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 332

They hadn't even made it to the tech team; they were suppressed right in Hayden's office.

When he summoned her, Sienna had just stood up from his lap.

The two were so intimately entangled, showing no regard for Zoe's presence, that she felt secondhand embarrassment for them.

"I've called them in for a meeting. You go ahead with your work," he said.

Sienna didn't even glance at Zoe, only offering Hayden a tender, suggestive smile.

Zoe offered a tight smile, couldn't be bothered to watch Sienna deliberately adjust her skirt and slip a fallen bra strap back into place.

Did they not get enough action the night before, acting so desperate in the middle of the office?

Zoe was well aware of Hayden's insatiable appetite in that regard.

He truly was like a starving wolf.

"Director Lynd, take a seat," Hayden stated coldly.

As he spoke, Zoe remained completely still.

"You rejected all my files. Does this mean you have no intention of patching these vulnerabilities?"

She seriously doubted if he actually cared about the success of this project.

If they relied on the data Sienna and her team had produced over the past three months, the majority of the project would inevitably crash mid-execution once deployed.

The liability for such a massive failure was no joke.

Hayden's gaze was ice-cold. He stared at her for a full thirty seconds, as if trying to strip away her defenses and see right through her.

He had been living at the office for quite a while now, yet she hadn't called or texted him once.

Even when he discreetly checked with Colin, she hadn't asked a single question about his whereabouts.

Over the past five years of their marriage, going MIA for three hours was her absolute limit.

Even though he had explicitly forbidden her from exposing their relationship to the public.

If she couldn't track him down within three hours, she used to subconsciously spiral into madness.

She would resort to self-harm just to force him to come home.

The atmosphere at Blackwood Manor used to be suffocating, sometimes literally ending in bloodshed.

This time, he had been staying at the company for twenty days.

He occasionally dropped by Blackwood Manor.

His expression froze instantly, whatever faint paternal instinct had surfaced entirely snuffed out by her coldness.

He couldn't be blamed; she was the one being heartless first.

"I reviewed the contents of your files. They're fine."

Hayden slipped into strict professional mode, acting as if his previous question had never been spoken.

Zoe's tightly wound nerves relaxed slightly.

She had absolutely no interest in exchanging pleasantries with him, and she despised him bringing up Lily.

Lily was her daughter alone; she had nothing to do with him or the Thorne family.

"If they're fine, why did you reject them?"

What exactly was he trying to pull?

Hayden tapped lightly on his desk, enunciating every word.

"The font is wrong. You will sit right here and retype everything on my computer. Only when the formatting is perfect will I authorize the team to patch the project's vulnerabilities.

Overtime is inevitable. This office is large enough, and there's a private suite with a bathroom and a bed inside. If you can't make it home, I'll stay right here with you until it's finished."
